I'm getting lots of slow down in ALL of the games I try to play on my old PS1. I'm also getting bad stuttering. It is the the original big grey one that I've had since I was a child. I had just recently pulled it out of storage.
Is there anything that needs to be done as maintenance for old ps1s that will fix this such as replacing capacitors?

I cleaned the laser lens with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Cutscenes are going fine but I'm still getting slow down during gameplay. Is there anything else I can do to tune it up?

It could help, but a replacement laser is about the same price as another used PS1. Just get another one. Seriously though, use the catalog, we have a Repair general.
