How the hell did Konami ended up fucking their shit up anyway? They went from one of the most prolific Japanese video game companies to basically whoring out their IPs to pachinko machines.
I suspect it was after Kazumi Kitaue departed from Konami, since that's when they closed down most of their game development studios (such as KCE Tokyo) and started relying on outsourcing to western developers.

Was a good series, then it degenerated when they thought it'd be a good idea to turn it into a Metroid RPG with SotN and kill off the classic style mostly.
