What HLSL settings do you use in MAME?

My settings look mostly good to my eyes, but it has a bit of a moire/horizontal bar effect. Still screenshots don't seem to capture it very well but I can see a bit of a variation in the patterns when I zoom in, which are causing the horizontal bars.

Either way I can deal with it, it's much better than just vanilla scanlines and I personally don't like filters like HQX etc.

In that one the pattern is plainly visible on the moon.

Retroarch with an overlay. Not as authentic but even a Raspberry Pi can render it.

Ah so probably because of stretching by a non-integer..
>>
>>3271436
that's indeed the reason. Due to the non-integer scaling, each source line maps to a different fraction of output lines, resulting in a slightly different coverage of the filter. The filter itself is fine, and probably works very well on lower resolution games, and will work better on 4k and larger displays

That looks really nice, actually. I generally don't use scanlines, but if I were going to I would want it to look like this.

Played with the settings some more. I actually quite like it now. Apparently the HLSL code was overhauled recently so a lot of the settings found by googling will either look terrible and/or will have outdated ini settings. If anyone wants me to throw this on pastebin let me know.

would you agree that this looks so much better than Street Fighter V

I refuse to play V, I can't stand full priced games that are modeled as a free to play game. As a consumer you'd have to be an idiot to support that practice.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3 are my favorites visually, though. The more Anime look is really expressive.

2D Ibuki looks better than SFV Ibuki. Too bad Capcom has fucked up SFV since the beginning. I haven't played SFV for a couple weeks because I got tired of the shitty experience.
