How did/do you play handhelds in the dark?

I turned on the lights.

The bigger problem was playing the GB while at swim meets. I would be in a tent, and hiding under a towel in 100 degree temperatures just to play some Fish Dude between heats.

Backlights for DMG and MGB.

Shitty front light and LOCA for GBC.

With pic related. It's even better than a worm light!

Dude, me too!
Some nostalgia right there!
My buddy and I would battle and trade pokemon while we were waiting for the 500 free to end
>>
>>3265765
my worm light is all floppy lmao :D

Viagra?

This. When it eventually died, I got a small little flashlight and just held it with my mouth.

My mom use to decorate the windows around our house with Christmas lights in December, and sometimes I could get enough light from those to play late into the night.
>>

Depends on the device. Some have a light and play just fine. Some are easily modded. Some have decent external light sources available. With modern LEDs even the most simple external light sources are pretty good these days.

Still remember the night I got Pokemon Silver. My dad was coming home late and had to stop by to pick it up, as soon as he got it, it was "lights out", which meant that I had to play it in the dark. First hour or two was played under that beautiful thing.
>>
I just play on a GBA SP.
>>
>>3267621
>I only played games in the dark after 2003.

What about before that?
>>
>>3267627
Wormlight, plain and simple. Shit got the job done.
>>
>>3265637
With a SP for GB and GBC games and a Gameboy Advance Micro for GBA games.
I love the feel and design of the original GB and
GBC but I will never go back to playing them unless it was modded with a back light.
>>
>>3265637

I didn't. Turn on the goddamn lamp.
>>
I didn't.
>>
>>3265637
I tried for about fifteen minutes and then gave up before going to bed.

Anybody else have one of these hulking badboys?

No, but I had a real one.

The GBC has the sun for that. External, doesn't need to recharge, pretty bright. Doesn't get much more decent than that

I was able to play MK2 while driving to HS with mine. You just weren't' going to settle in and play for hours with it. But really, when would you have to? If you were on a long road trip with the parents you brought a cigarette lighter adapter, and if you weren't, you had the AC. The only time I ever really worried about batteries was short trips.

And yes, I meant WHILE driving to school. People who text and drive have nothing on my bad habits.

This post made me laugh a lot. Perhaps it's just me but the image conjured of some fat sonic autist sweating over a non-existent error in another person's post really brought a smile to my face on a difficult day. Thank you.

Sincerely, A. Non

you had the battery pack and then the power back too. it was serviceable with one of those or rechargeable AA batteries, I had both, you just had to make sure you had a password or saved before you switched power sources.

>>3271270
extension chord for the POWER CHORD! yaaaaaAAAAAAA
>>3271395
yep
>>3271616
FINISH HIM!!

so many people still don't realize its a word play on "miles per hour"
>>
>>3271738
my eyes are augmented too

you got the latest version of the firmware?
>>
>>3265765

I had one of these. Goddamn they were a life saver before backlights. Then again my game gear had one so whatever. Probably why the damn thing could drain six AA batteries in about two hours.
