Why do people keep abbreviating the Nintendo 64 name as "N64"? I remember magazines in the 90s said NU64.

Why do people keep abbreviating the PlayStation name as "PS1"? I remember magazines in the 90s said PSX.
>you are this retarded
>>3259737
They dropped ultra for the systems release.
But you can still see it on the console, games and accessories abbreviated as NUS
Back in the early stages of Nintendo Sixty Four development the magazines at the time used to refer to the console as a Hexacontakaitetragon Box and it just kind of caught on
>>3260423
>Hexacontakaitetragon Box
You just made my head hurt trying to read that, asshole
Because Ultra 64 sounds too cool for a shit console.
>>3260501
Well, it IS a 5th gen console after all, but it still has some cool games, yo.
It didn't catch on once the name was finalized. Also, N64 is a fine abbreviation that is catchy and has no room for confusion. PS, on the other hand, is too short, boring, and most English speakers immediately associate it with postscript.
Because putting 64 in your console and games only proves how shitty your company is. Glad Sony stomped the shit out of them.

NES
SNES
then suddenly
N64
So what happened to the other 62 consoles?
>>3260526
Hey sonyfriend, no need to be so antagonistic, N64 and PSEcks are both cool.
Saturn is better than both anyways.
>>3260543
>PSEcks
>>3260530
There was Nintendo consoles before the NES you know.
>>3260551
62 of them?
>>3260549
Are you underage?

WHERE ARE THE FIRST 14?!
>>3260552
Yep, the one I posted was the 15th as you can see.
>>3260554
They're around.
Here's the 6th one.
>>3260557
Well, they also have a 112th, so where were the others between 64 and 112.
All the stupid in this thread is making my brain hurt.
>>3260705
>I'm dumb
>>3260246
That's what he's getting at m8
He's mocking PSXfags
>>3260560
That one was sent back in time in an accident. The other ones are coming.
Why didn't they call N64 the UNES?
>>3260530
It was named Nintendo 64 because Nintendo only made 64 games for it.
>>3260970
Pronounced too similarly to "anus."
>>3260886
I waited but an answer eventually came, thx m8
>>3260987
Still better than "We You"
>>3260986
Are you counting Rare games and Treasure games that were also released by Nintendo or just their in-house stuff?
>>3260986
When you see it, you turn 64 degrees and walk away
