You know that feeling that comes over you when you great track comes on that you haven't heard in so long? You get goosebumps and something inside of you stirs.

Try to limit it to a single song, though multiple songs are not off limits.

Melodies of Life from FF9: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94PdrQF1Ugs
I always liked the song, but then my cat died, which bummed me out of course. Then a couple weeks after the fact I just happened to listen to MoL and it hit me in all the right feels. I broke down and had a solid cry right then and there. But that turned out to help my healing process I guess because that taught me that acceptance of death means you only look back on the happy memories of a loved one from that point onward.

This song brings out a lot of emotions because the journey was just so much fun and finally reaching the end felt kind of melancholy. I did everything in the game, including the side-missions. This whole song seems to capture that feeling perfectly.

Maybe I should look up a translation to the lyrics hurr.

This requires less explanation. It's just such a beautiful way to start a journey.

Ever played the shooter called Side Arms?
It's a Capcom game, and there are some Zakus in that game...but it's quite obviously not a Gundam game.

Probably ending themes in some games. You've made it through your journey and now everything is wrapped up and time to end that chapter for a new one.

First one I thought was the ending theme to Final Fantasy Legend, but Mario 64 is right up there as well.

Panzer Dragoon my nigga. I bought the game before picking up a Saturn and would play it in my CD player. This song in particular was my favorite. Completely blew my mind back in the 90s. Just perfect.

Beating super Mario 64 and hearing that ending theme never made me cry a lot as a kid. I did cry a bit, honestly, but then again I always cried over anything that ended... anything that I would get invested in I would get sad as shit over. Even get depressed. Prime example of this would be OoT, when I beat it I was literally depressed for days. Still not as bad as when I watched the season finale for Digimon tho. I didn't know season 2 was coming at the time, that ending made me depressed for fucking WEEKS.

As far as ending themes go though I have to say the sm64 ending theme has the right mix of nostalgia for me to still send me into near tears. And it genuinely is a great tune, really makes you feel like you finished a grand adventure.

Mine isn't the most original either, but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB3VycE33TI

I've said this in other threads before, but I was always impressed with the mood the first Paper Mario grabbed. Other Mario RPGs often increased what was at stake, added in a game-changing gimmick or villain, or filled it with self-referential humor; those are all awesome and I love them. But the first Paper Mario, while having a few twists and laughs, always felt like it was really honest and genuine. It had faith that a traditional "Mario saves Peach from Bowser" story could stand up on its own legs, and that even if the setup was cliched, it didn't mean the characters couldn't have strong feelings and relations throughout the whole thing.

I feel like this song captures the hopeful atmosphere perfectly, with just a hint of sadness.

>Panzer Dragoon - Flight
I'm not sure why, but everytime I run into this song I get this urge to cry.
It's such a beautiful piece of art, it fully encapsulates perfectly what it is to be riding a badass dragon through some dilapidated ancient ruins.
Just makes me think of the plight of men and artists and how they're able to cooperate together to create something beautiful.

I feel like a fucking retarded faggot afterwards, but this fucking song really has a hold on me.
>>
>>3257709
Only criticism I have with Panzer Dragoon is that the best part of Flight cuts out due to the approaching boss battle.

I this song and ones like the one OP chose resonate with me more because they're not really used as background during gameplay, but rather to define a specific moment, scene, or place of time within a game. It symbolizes a point in which you reached or overcame something, and it's often that which you ultimately recall fondly upon, rather than the process of overcoming it in itself, much like in real life. The same goes for music during cutscenes and endings. In my opinion, that's what makes these kind of tracks so special.

Zelda 3 final credits.
I will have that played at my funeral. Haunting and sad at first. Then happy and bittersweet when the classic Zelda theme begins halfway through.
