>>
>>3261385

I know comfy threads elsewhere show night-time Japanese cityscapes and other panoramic sceneries and I get that they're "comfy" cause they inspire feelings of relaxation or coziness.

I still don't get how a video game can be "comfy".

I once wondered too what comfy is but after some time it became evident. Definitions are dumb cause too restrictive and always refutable. You'll find out what comfy is when u play a comfy game and compare it to a different one.

Maybe on could say that it is one that plays itself, that requires no mind effort but still keeps ur mind into it. Like the difference between driving a car and being a passenger.
>>
>>3268372
>Like the difference between driving a car and being a passenger

IMO, a game that is relaxing for you to play.
Doesn't necessarily mean a relaxing game. I play Sim City on the SNES and get tense as fuck when things begin to go wrong.
On the other hand, I play Tenchu which is a stealth game and feel comfy as fuck walking around, enjoying the music and whatnot.

Usually, relaxing games like simulation ones tend to be actually slow paced and comfy, but it depends on the person really.

>Hard at all
Now if you had said Mu, Ankgor Wat, or heck, even the Great Wall on a bad day, sure. I'll even admit that the Pharaoh Queen can be a little hard depending on how you fight her. But the final boss?
Honestly if I had to say a fight, I'd say Solid Arm.

Anyway, not the same guy, but I have to admit, South Cape is pretty comfy.

>The material is poorly written or produced and has a B-movie nature to it, making one laugh or feel at peace by the sheer silliness in the material's creation - this is particularly true if the actors seem to be genuinely trying to make the material good.

I think I now what it means now

No wonder I always felt comfy watching episodes of MST3K. Something about watching really old sci-fi and horror B-movies with the bots wisecracking gave me a feeling of coziness. Maybe it's the dark cozy movie theater environment too.

Though I still can't think of a game that evokes that feeling. Closest I can think of are bad old licensed NES games like Back to the Future II. Or weird screw-ball arcade games like Trio De Punch

They recently fan-translated the GBC sequel. I tried it and got stuck - you can choose to be the older brother who gets kidnapped by pirates (like, modernish ones, not eyepatches and rum) ad get stuck in an abandoned military installation. The younger brother washes up on a regular island... Forget why I stopped playing... Oh yeah because there's no guide, and I cbf trying a bunch of item combinations to get something useful (string + stick = rod? NOPE. Uh string + BIG stick? NOPE.)
>>
>>3271114
>I cbf trying a bunch of item combinations to get something useful
That's a bit of a problem with that kind of game mechanic. It's supposed to be about survival, but the combinations are not necessarily intuitive. I suppose one way to address the problem is to support a shitload of combinations, including nonsense ones. So you always get feedback and something to work with. What other mechanics could work?
>>
>>3270675
There's a massive slew of fangames for that. Try I Wanna Find My Destiny, that's one of the best ones.

Guy on Twitch called ParagusRants plays fangames on the regular. He's clocking a lot of hours on the FFX PC release just now though but when he's not playing a recent release he usually plays IWBTG fangames on a regular basis.

My best guess would be a system that looks at what your combining, guesses what you're trying to make and tells you what you're missing. Like in the rod case, it could predict I'm trying to make one and say "I could use a lure" or if it thinks I'm making a bow say "you need a different stick".
>>
>>3271504
>and tells you what you're missing
But you don't get that feedback in a survival situation, do you? Unless you mean some inner monologue of the player character?
