So, bought one of these at a retro game store, what do i need to know?
How do i make the most out of this badboy? (emulators online capabilites etc)
I know they're famous for breaking down, what can i do to prevent this?

Essential games? I'm trying to learn Japanese so imports are cool too.

Also do i need a program like Nero to mount the iso if i plan to burn a game to a CDR?

Breaking down? I've never had issues. Just don't be a fucking tool.

Download ISOburn essential Dreamcast tools for burning games, easier than using DiscJuggler or Nero.

Shenmue I&II, Skies of Arcadia and Jet Set Radio are essential IMO

I ordered a japanese dreamcast and tested out few japanese games and for some reason Virtual On didn't work for a while (it wasn't scratched) while other games even heavily scratched worked perfectly.
The console seems like it's new just sitting in the box all those years, could it be something with the disc or maybe the laser is dirty or dying?

Just throwing in my two cents.

The only luck I've had with burning games was with DiscJuggler, and using decent quality CDRs at the lowest burn speed you can set it to. I think my computer would only go down to 10x, but it still worked fine.

The really cheap discs always have a write error, and I tried about five of them, all of which ended up as coasters.

Tokyo Bus Guide is a weird-but-fun import game

You'd better not play any homebrew or Half Life games on your DC then... They're horribly fragmented and will cause the drive laser motor to work nonstop. Sturmwind is the loudest DC game I've ever played in that regard.
