This, and Mission: Deliver Kindness are the best answers because they're actually in the game.
Also this game is great. Replayed it recently on PC.

In MDK2 the dev actually said it's an acronym for the names of the protags.
But I guess for MDK 1 it was just to be considered murderdeathkill to give it an action vibe, as if I recall correctly, the whole game was designed as a parody or something
>>3239627
MDK could never decide if it wanted to be goofy/cartoony or serious. It should have went serious. It had some dark as shit neat designs.

Mediocre Dumb Kronk
This and KKND (Krush, Kill 'N Destroy) are always together in my memory because of the edgy acronym names.

Redundant and stupid. Why would it be that?
A gaming magazine back in the day called it Maim, Destroy, Kill. I'm inclined to go with that.
mortal damn kombat
This game was impressive for the amount of zoom in the sniper mode, and the fact of being one of the first games in history to have headshots.
Kurt's coil suit looks awesome and something I wouldn't expect in such an atmosphere or setting like that.

That's why it works, BECAUSE it is a dead serious world filled with wacky shit.
Same reason why the humor in the Serious Sam Encounter games works so well while it falls flat in SS2 and in a way MDK 2 is the same with its constant barrage of humor and generally silly tone.
>Hi this is Nick Bruty, creator of the original MDK. Thanks for all the nice reviews. Can't believe its been so long since it was released. To answer a few questions. Yes the name did stand for Murder Death Kill. It was a temp name that stuck although I didn't like the actual meaning so we came up with a bunch of other names to cover it up.
From the game's page on GOG.com https://www.gog.com/game/mdk
Its on sale for 2 bucks right now
