Well I'm about to unleash the raw power of 32 bits for the first time.

If experiencing double the extreme blast processing doesn't blow my television up and kill me, I'll let you know how it went.

Thanks. Forgot I even subscribed to this blog.
+1 to your google+ account m8.
Liking your content.

Well it was really great, let me tell you. Cosmic Carnage has cool sprite scaling, and Admiral Akbar in Star Wars has some kind of Brooklyn accent or something.
>>
>>3238842
Never tried a 32x, but I imagine the experience to be underwhelming
>>
>>3239017
It was underwhelming when they released it, so yea. It doesn't have a game worth buying.
>>
>>3239017
was worth it just for the composite video upgrade for me
>>
>mod genesis model 1 for svideo
>want to get a 32X
>my s-video mod becomes useless
fuck

Every time I play After Burner Complete on my 32X it makes this weird high pitched wailing sound.

That happen to anybody else?
>>
>>3239061
Happens to me too.
Kinda annoying but I've managed to live with it.
>>
>>3239017
I was pleasantly surprised due to expecting nothing whatsoever. Virtua Fighter and Virtua Racing run at a good frame rate, I wasn't taking that for granted.

Lies.

At worst the 32x acts as a really nice color and sound amp for the Genesis. Enough that I've keep mine hooked up since I got one in the 90s

there's more than that too.

do I need an extension or something to filter by image md5?

virtua racing and star wars arcade ports are great
>>
I love playing mine. Blackthorne and the Sega arcade ports are perfect. The original games range from so-so to good, Kolibri and Knuckle's Chaotix being the best imo.
Anyone know if Zaxxon's Motherbase is worth checking out? I could use more shmups.
>>
>>3241702
Neat I got four of those, so many cheap games

>>3241865
It seems to have good versions of meh Genesis games and decent versions of good arcade games. I mean I really like Space Harrier, but I don't know why I'd play the 32X version in particular.

Virtua Racing and Star Wars at least have some added stuff.
>>
i was really hoping it would kill you
>>
>>3239046
in theory, the 32X should output an S-Video signal from the video converter, so all you'd have to do would be wire in Svideo + composite (optional) and L+R audio
then again it might just not work due to sega fuckery
>>
>>3241672
Really? It amplifies Genesis games?
>>
>>3243653
Misleading terminology. The 32x has its own video output that may enhance Genesis video quality by removing rainbow banding, but not every Genesis suffers from banding in the first place. There are no Genesis games that would take advantage of the 32x hardware itself to e.g. apply a better colour palette.
>>
>>3244172
>>3243653
It's not so much removing the rainbow banding as it is not having the rainbow banding appear to begin with.

The rainbow banding is really only an issue for the composite output of certain Genesis(and I believe some S-Video modded ones) due to the composite of the video encoder being rather shit. The cable that runs from the Genesis to the 32X pulls RGB to work with, and as the 32X has a better quality video encoder, it's composite output doesn't have the rainbow banding.
>>
>>3240263
$10$ per pixel
>>
>>3244256
Right. That explains why I've never noticed the thing - I use RGB Scart exclusively.
>>
>>3244273
If you're in PAL land, you wouldn't have likely seen it anyway, since I believe it only applies to NTSC encoded composite and not PAL.
>>
I have a Genesis model 1 hooked up to a sega CD. Does the audio quality differ at all if I use the headphone port vs running the mixer line to the sega cd and outputting rca LR audio?
>>
The best Megadrive/Genesis in term of sound and game support is the ridiculously expensive Pioneer CLD-A100 with Sega expansion pack

Playing a Genesis game with my 32X attached horribly oversaturates the game colors. No idea why.
