Is action doom 2 the best wad ever?
>>
my favorite wad is one I found on one of those doom wad cds you'd find in the mall in the mid 90s, it's called homer.wad and replaces the sound effects with simpsons sounds

I prefer vanilla doom... Crispy doom to be specific.. But i really liked the AI of brutal doom when i tried it, not the fancy stuff and modifications, but the IA felt a great challenge somethimes comparing to vanilla doom... Maybe theres a way to play with the new AI and only that from brutal doom... I have to say that i love brutal heretic rpg, im replaying the game with it, lol

It's probably one of the best-looking doom wad at least.

II don't know much about Doom wads, only played Ultimate and 2 and just recently got me Brutal Doom Hell on Earth with that new campaign and I must admit, I am having a blast.
Why exactly is BD so hated here?

The hate for brutal doom is largely hyperbole, honestly it's just a little frustrating how saturated it is within the Doom community in general. Also, it brought a lot of new players to the game, so I think there is some resentment there from old players when the new ones only play the game with brutaldoom and think that it's better.

I really love the Hell on Earth starter pack. The levels are designed really well, and they feel more like real places. Most everything in the maps seems like it has a reason to be there.
I'm eager to play through it again after I finish a few other megaWADs.
Also, this conversation should be in the retro Doom general.

Did anyone else find the cannibal house unnerving as fuck?

Oh hi MC Ride.

It's probably the best, most professionally made TC out there.

It looks cool, but I think Action Doom 1 was better because Doom already is a lot like Contra.

Brutal Doom is not a BAD wad by any measure, a lot of work went into it and it's a cool new thing. The problem is that it's marketed as some sort of "Doom Remastered!" when it breaks the balance of the game and makes entire pace of the combat ass backwards.

If you remember it's just a wad, not different from any other, rather than some Holy Grail, or What Doom 3 Should Have Been, then it's perfectly fine mod to play.
