your opinion of the bomberman series
>>
I like the 3D bomberman games better than the original games.
sorry /vr/
>>
Dumb party games with zero skill.
>>
>>3227475

But the N64 Bombermans are still /vr/ and pretty awesome.

Unless you mean that abortion released on PS3 by some western dev.
>>
Bomberman is cute.
>>
>>3227467
Holy.
>>
>>3227491
That was good doe
>>
>>3227467
I like the single player a lot... Never had a multitap to properly play multiplayer...
>>
>>3227491
Better than the pedo shit Japan seems to crank out in droves.
>>
>>3227491
I think you mean Bomberman Act Zero on Xbox. That was shit.
>>
>>3227467
I have the PC Engine releases and the SFC games as well. Live playing them with friends. Atomic Bomberman was great.
As for single player though I never really got too into them.

Well the old ones are pretty gay but I rented Bomberman64 and it was the shit.

I loved the one on the n64. Played it as a child with a neighborhood friend.

While the N64 games are neat, it just feels wrong putting any other game over the classic grid-based Bombermans.

From these I pick Super Bomberman 5, Bomberman Hero and Bomberman Online

Saturn Bomberman is great but it pisses me off that I'll never get 10+ people to play it. (or that many Saturn controllers, although I could buy those)
>>
What about Bomberman's sister series, Lode Runner? Anybody got into those?
>>
>>3227479

>>
>>3227491
I just mean that people round here put the 2d ones on a high horse but I have always found them kinda boring. Bomberman 64 is great imo.
>>
The 2D games are too boring, the more open multiplayer levels in the 3D N64 games were much better and had a lot more intensity to them over the other games. Not to mention the single player was an experience all to itself as well. Fantastic game, one of the best multiplayer games on the N64 - hands down.

Best Single Player: Super Bomberman
Best Multiplayer: Super Bomberman 4
Underrated Gem: Pocket Bomberman

People say Saturn Bomberman and Bomberman 64 are amazing but I've played neither so I can't chip in

Bomber 64 was off the chain with friends

It was, but my favorite is still the first one with the Louies, "Mega Bomberman" on the Sega Genesis.

Also, 5656 fucking everywhere, amirite?

AKSHULLY Louie first showed up in 93 on the pc engine.

I have only one game I care about, and that is Bomberman 64. The OST, the singleplayer and last but not the least, the multiplayer is great. All the time I spent playing multiplayer, deliberately waiting for the map to flood to make tensions higher, it was great.

Lode Runner The Legend Returns and Mad Monks Revenge are two of my favorite games. Series is pretty solid with only a few crap entries. Not a huge fan of when they tried making it 3d.
>>
>>3227727
Lode Runner is more of its own thing, the original devs are even western.

While this is true, the original Bomberman tied into Lode Runner's story. You were escaping from the warehouse/factory of the Bungling Empire (main villains of Lode Runner) and if you reached outside you became human. At the end of Bomberman you became "the runner" according to the text on NES
Of course the later Bomberman games and Lode Runner games make no mention that Bomberman and the runner are the same being, and this only made sense I believe on NES however as the enemies in Lode Runner were reused Bomberman sprites.
>>
>>3227656
pretty good post
>>3227662
i feel that people give the 64 games past the first one much more credit than they actually deserve. hero is an okay platformer that's mainly remembered for it's ost and tsa was a pretty big step back from the first game - the return of the + explosions does it no favors and the level design wasn't nearly as good.
>>3227720
party edition isn't that good. the prerendered visuals are pretty damn jarring and single player is nothing more than the nes game. the volume of the battle mode being bigger than that of other games is the only thing it has over bomberman world.
>>
Any good Bomberman-likes out there?

Invisigun Heroes is in development (I played an earlier build) and feels like Bomberman if everyone was invisible and everyone has guns. Sounds dumb on paper but plays fantastic. Also not /vr/

the fact you posted the best song forces me applaud you.

bomberman 64 was rather interesting because the bomb mechanics were actually complex but you never had to dive into that level of skill.
>>
>>3227467
the last 3 supers were the best

THe last few games up to this point were just shitty party battle games. I miss riding Louies and getting possible random power ups in breakable blocks
>>
>>3230648
All the Supers until 5 have too much slowdown, though.

Super V, Mega is a watered-down port of '94 on the PC Engine.

I love it. I grew up with all three N64 games and I recently got into the retro originals. Great series. Rip.

Four player Bomberman on the Megadrive was manic childhood bliss. Like most things, Bomberman was at its best when it was simple.
>>
>>3227467
You know how some kids these days get obsessed with things like Sonic or Undertale or FNAF? For me that was Bomberman, only I didn't really make Bomberman OCs and usually just made up silly monsters for Bomberman or the already OCesque other official characters to blow up.

Personally prefer Party Edition, Saturn Bomberman, and maybe Hero as being the best of those lots. Played a lot of GBC Bomberman though so Quest and
>>3227819
have a special place in my heart.
>>
Hero was pretty shit. I mean yeah it was kinda cool that Bomberman could jump now but the level design was seriously atrocious.

Bomberman 64, on the other hand, was fucking incredible.

We used to play the snes version with 3 players and pop in an OST of our choice (mostly silent Hill 2).

Fantastic.

Bomberman Hero on N64 was my favorite.
>>
I don't think I'll ever forgive Konami for killing the series. Every Gen needs a Bomberman game.
>>
>>3233603
It's your fault for not buying Act Zero, signaling to Konami that there's no interest in Bomberman.

>>
>>3233615
Yeah, like Bomberman for the iOS.
>>
>>3233617
you could've bought one of these battle-mode-only games that were released for every important 8th generation console or one of these portable ones instead. bomberman was only really killed off with hudson
stop memeing act zero, it's bad
>>
Bomberman games are a blast!

>>
>>3233981
They were planning a N64 3D adventure style game for the 3DS' launch that would have had online and local battle. Then Konami bought them and cancelled all future plans to release Hudson games.
