The co-op in this game is fun as fuck. Two joysticks one mech.
Here I am.

2 or 4?

I prefer this one, but both are solid.
Nitgh Slave

The single player isn't that good. You get attacked from all sides and die pretty quick. Its hard to tell what your supposed to be doing. It looks cool though.

I really liked mechwarrior 2 and 4 mercenaries.
Unfortunately I have lots of technical issues with almost all of the mechwarrior games on my current PC, only one I've been able to play recently is mechwarrior 2 thanks to dosbox.
Honestly somewhat average as a STG game, but Side Arms Hyper Dyne is pretty awesome if you pretend it's an AU Gundam game.
Damn I wish I had the skills to scratch build myself the Alpha mobile suit.

I feel ya.
Mech 3 basically requires XP SP2 or lower and an older video card.
Mech 4 also may have video issues depending on your system. Worked in Vista just fine, not in 8.
For me it's partly the reason I built a dual boot Win98/XP machine with a P3 and a Radeon 9600.

I still prefer Banter Mission 3.
What's that really fucking cool mech game on the Genesis which is like a sidescrolling shooter but you can transform into different modes, and it has loads of sick ass parallax backgrounds and shit?
That game blew my mind but I always forget its name.

The resource conservation and management in this game is top notch. It's a shame that the sequel ruined it and dumbed it down.

Ranger X?
Carnage Heart

>It's reallly a puzzle game though.
That's the best thing about it though, I love the level design and trying to figure out the "tricks" to each stage and how to best get everything done. It's a different experience than competitive RTSes and/or ones with building and resource management, more like turn-based strategy games or SRPGs.

SRPG usually don't have only 1 solution. MC1 is closer to a graphic adventure game with its "but thou must!" tier of puzzles.

All the good ones aren't vr

>SRPG usually don't have only 1 solution.
Neither does Mechcommander though. A lot of the maps may have ideal ways to play through them but there are always different ways you can do it. It's not like you're forced to use the minelayer on the defend the farm mission or the level where you have to destroy the supply trucks fleeing through the woods, for example (though it's obviously the best solution for the former and a good one for the latter).
