It is! Was just there yesterday. Valravn was cool, never rode a dive coaster before. Sucked waiting 1.5 hours but hey it's opening season. Gatekeeper was fantastic, wasn't expecting it to be that fun. Magnum was a lot rougher than I remembered back in 2007.

Round 1 was a Virginia Reel contest that I don't have the results for.

Round 2 was the Halloween contest as shown by >>3222156

Round 3 with the winner as pic related, officially called round 2 for some reason:

Round 4 called round 3 which never ended so technically voting is still open. No results were posted because there were 2 polls made because one entry was left out, so we have varying results.

Woah so I just starting playing RCT2 for the first time in over 10 years.

Damn this is pretty fun, but I ran out of money almost immediately, should i have held off on buying the roller coaster?
>>
>>3222594
Roller coasters are your best friend for money.

How much are you charging for it? If it's a pay-to-enter park, I'd hold off for a bit, but otherwise take a look at the excitement rating, and round that down. That's usually a pretty good estimate as to how much you should charge per customer, but if it's newly-opened, you can usually go full on jew mode, and charge 1.5x that.

Alright, first time tripfag for my first time park. I started this about eight hours ago, so if anyone wants to try it out, I'd be happy to hear any advice. I tried not to make it too complicated, seeing as how I'm still getting my bearings.

If you'd prefer a bare version of the park with no rides as well, I've uploaded that as well. Interest rate is high, by the way, as the scenario description hints.

So, what's best?
Shops randomly spread throughout the park, never too close to each other?
A bunch of shops all together close to an area with bunch of benches?
The same, but with walls and roofs to make it look like a proper restaurant?

Does shit like lamps, flowers, fences, and gates (not counting benches and trash cans) matter to the rating/happiness of the park or is it just for looks
>>
>>3223815
Street lamps actually raise guest happiness if you have enough of them. They function like entertainers but they don't go anywhere.

Flowers, fences and gates are all types of scenery so the more you have of them, the happier your guests will be.

>>
>>3226426
Depends on how you lay out your subpaths. In general, I'd say that's about as safe as you can get for a two opposite entrances park. As long as you don't have more than one subpath per path segment per side you should be safe.

Ironically enough, a single entrance could be safer. Pic related took my 5 gorillion hours in MS Paint, the red areas are places where guests will get lost, blue is entrance. Don't leave any dead-ends facing towards a park entrance, you either must proves a horizontal path that connects back to the main line or not do it i the first place.

Ride exits are exceptions to this though, they can be as weirdly shaped as you want, just put a no entrance sign where they connect back to the main path. With just a single entrance, you'll be able to have dead ends facing away from the entrance to give the pathing a more organic feel, but with two you'd need to stick to the grid layout pretty thoroughly, as bends and curves either way could create choke points.

how long do you make queue lines? just long enough so people arent skipping the ride?

Usually I shoot for long enough that if you cut off the queue it would be able to run at normal capacity for a month.
You definitely don't want viable riders skipping your rides and skipping out on paying, but you also don't want 200 guests sitting in a line not paying for other stuff.
tl;dr just remember that every second that a guest is standing in line is a second that they aren't spending money

Considering I've been playing the game on and off since RCT1 came out, I'm probably just burnt out on actually making spaghetti parks.

There's something relaxing and enjoyable about making comfy rides while listening to comfy music. Have my latest comfy I guess.
>>
>>3229971
Use ORCT2, open sandbox mode, enable infinite money cheat.
>>
>>3229971
There is a trainer for RCT1 called Codex, which is a hex editor with a UI. It allows you to change the position and rotation of objects, edit money, rides available, lift speed etc etc.

4Cars is less advanced (it can't hex edit like codex can), but just like 8cars for vanilla rct2 it can edit money, dates, ride operating modes, chain speeds, staff, weather etc etc.

http://www.nedesigns.com/utilities/

For both of these, you'll need something called the Drexler patch (it's all over rct fansites, just google it), which disables the anti-cheat code in rct1 so you are able to use trainers. The Drexler patch does NOT work with the Deluxe version (including the steam and gog versions) of the game, you'll either have to pirate RCT1 and the expansions as separate installations, or use the magic downgrade program somebody made on the rct subreddit, it should be in their wiki.

There are also .sv4 file workbenches for rct1 which are just flat maps with all the land available and a shitload of cash, and you could always just use Arid Heights.
>>
What to play? RCT1 or openRCT2
>>
>>3230343
I'm currently doing all the scenarios in 1-3, all expansions and then going autism in open
>>
>>3230343
Why not just download RCT1's scenarios into ORCT2?

I always had the understanding that there was literally no reason to play RCT1 over 2 aside from scenarios, but that's pretty invalidated when they were faithfully recreated as accurate as possible in RCT2.

OpenRCT2 lets you set it so you have to unlock scenarios.

Is there a way to build a path/queue thats elevated so i can attach it to an existing elevated path?
all i can find is that i have to start on the ground and ramp up.
>>
>>3230869
Ehh not exactly RCT1 was slightly more frustrating. I'm pretty sure RCT1 didn't allow you to clear scenery automatically, if you tried to build a rollercoaster even one tree could prevent the coaster from being laid down. I think you couldn't preview what rides looked like on the ground until RCT2 as well. Another thing was guest would frequently get lost and the game would have little messages telling you about each individual guest who was lost. RCT2 only nags you about lost guests if there's a significant number of them
>>
>>3231316
There's also a few tweaks to the rides. RCT2 is way more generous with how many cars/boats/trains you can have. RCT1 log flume only gives you enough boats to fill the station. RCT2 log flume has no problem giving you like 20+ boats for the same design. Log flume is way more efficient in RCT2.
>>
>>3231314
Start on the existing elevated path.
>>
>>3231321
Also the fact that you can elevate things in RCT2 where everything in RCT1 is built on the ground. As well as there being banked sloped curved pieces in RCT2, while you don't in RCT1
>>
>>3231869
RCT1 is kinda like an alpha build compared to RCT2, even deluxe doesn't address some of the shortcomings with the game. The game is still great but plays quite differently because you have to work around many odd gameplay mechanics. There's also a few parks that have rides that are basically death traps, they will eventually crash at some point if you don't rework them ASAP.

I don't have a clue, honestly, but if I had to guess why the stats on the right is so low, it's because it's so much longer.

Go Karts get an excitement penalty if the laps are more than 1. Meaning a track one minute long will have a higher excitement than 2 laps at 30 seconds long.

To expand on my previous post, i think i have found what dictates the Gokart stats. I am inclined to disagree with >>3233804 Though i'm not entirely sure.

Based on my views it seems as if the more cramped your track/less space it takes up, the better the stats become.

See image for the gokart tests i used for this.
>>
>>3234018
The orientation is a part of the metadata/exif which 4chan removes now. It was removed because people were using it to dox others
>>
>>3233804
I also recall reading on here before that Go Karts have a penalty if underground for too long, though I have no idea of how legit that finding was.
>>

Apparently the scenery doesn't contribute to the overall excitement rating if you build the station underground, instead you just get a fixed bonus amount. That applies to all rides though.

You're better off making hedge mazes as a single path, so as to make sure no guests will ever get lost in them.

As for boat hires, it's best either to just have them on a path or in a bounded area. Even for the second, though, I've found that they end up bunching up at the exit a lot of the time.

Playing Whispering Cliffs in RCT1, I wanted to expand my chairlift to the lower section of the park. Problem is, the chairlift runs from the second station all the way to the third without stopping near the entrance again. Adding a fourth station to the upper end made a back trip a whopping two minutes without stopping at other stations, rather than the about 40 seconds for the normal distances. Anything that can be done about this? And do RCT2 and OpenRCT2 behave the same way too?

Another thing I noticed, with that configuration of station numbers, excitement dropped from ~3 to 1.5, while demolishing and rebuilding stations in order raised it to 3.2.
>>
>>3249505
transport rides are pretty broken. The game considers them a normal ride, not a method of transportation. The excitement dropped because it was simply too long of a trip.

As far as I know, chairlifts will go stopping-all-stations in OpenRCT no matter how many you have, but there is a limit before you can't build anymore stations (6 is the max iirc)
>>
On mac, got RCT1 off of GOG. I have the game running fine, except for whenever I try to load or save anything the colors get inverted and make it so you can't see anything. Is there a way to fix this?
>>
>>3249528
I know the limit is 4 stations in RCT, which would be just about enough for this crammed scenario. Welp, at least the lift still keeps visitors occupied and turns a profit.

Another question: How ready is OpenRCT2 as a replacement for the main game? Does it work with both RCT1 and RCT2 scenarios, rides etc.? I only learned about it recently and the version number suggests a rather early development stage.
