Has anybody played Princess Maker 1? How does it compare to 2?
It's pretty similar mechanically., minus the adventure mode. Less endings too.

Three has more of a focus on the raising aspect of the game and removes the adventuring system, but adds more character events and gives your daughter more personality depending on how you raise her.
Making money is harder since your daughter can still fuck up at work with a good amount of skill and because the festivals now require you to keep training a stat in order to place anywhere near 1st place.
The whole game feels a lot more different from two, since what you say and do can actually affect your daughter's stats and moods dramatically. For example, I turned down her request for a gift and it lowered her relationship with me. At other times, it raised her temperament.
Very underrated game.

The first guide has a good amount of info on the games, second guide is in Japanese but you can just use google to translate it. You can get through the game with only a shitty amount of Japanese knowledge (like I did), just follow the heart of your daughteru.
I found it very basic compared to 2. The stress mechanism doesn't work well and there's a lot less stuff do.
