Do you like gimmick-heavy stages? (think of pic related or treasure games) what's your opinion on them? I think they've gotten a bad rep lately but personally I find them incredibly enjoyable when done well

I actually really loved Battletoads for its variety as a game. That was like the point of the game, I wouldn't call every level a gimmick stage. The only thing that I didn't like was that there wasn't a single good isometric beat-em-up part after the first one, that could have had some tying-in near the lategame.
Nah this game excellently utilized every single stage incredibly well
