So what's the deal with Virtual Hydlide? Is it really as bad as they say? I'm thinking about about getting it for my Saturn.

I like it. It's good for a procedurally generated 3D interpretation of Hydlide that you can theoretically sit down and beat in a single sitting, unless it happens to generate fuck hard which it sometimes does.
Worth playing for its engine - really neat what they did with it.

Haven't played, but just watched a short gameplay video and doesn't look really that bad. besdes the hideous framerate. Unless the controls are a mess It actually looks fun, and I'm tempted to play it, but I'm a sucker for simple and short games like this. The whole random generated map thing looks neat, it probably could give it a high replayability value if done properly.

It's fairly okay it's just that the animations and collision detection are kinda iffy. I've actually played it quite a bit more than some other much more valuable Saturn games I own. Mainly for its pick-up-and-play appeal, shortness and replayability.
I just don't understand what makes this hydlide any more or less virtual than the previous ones.
