You're right, they're pretty awful. The only value is nostalgia. But at the time the first few were unique, ground-breaking, immersive and all sort of other things.

Except that it's so stupefyinging dated as to be almost unplayable today. I'd say Sierra's other series aged better since they're generally set in a sci-fi/fantasy world instead of the real world populated by landline phones and other 80s-early 90s tech that populates LSL.
Not to mention that the swinger/dating scene today is radically different than it was when my parents were dating.

Didn't play the originall, but remakes of 1 and 2 were awesome.
KQ1 is a very dull game since there's hardly any content; 90% of it consists of wandering around empty screens. KQ3 is the first one in the series that's interesting to play.

I really liked KQ2, to a young kid walking around the forest and climbing down a ladder into an underground dwarf's house was exciting.
Walking around, checking holes in trees and swimming across lakes.
Fun times, even the dying had an amusing feel about it.
