I'm not really sure about the first game, since the sequel was released so quickly, but Last Blade 2 has some drastic balance issues and actual game(play) breaking bugs, that make characters like Zantetsu completely ridiculous in competitive play – or casual play if one is enough of a prick to use actually use the take advantage of said Zantetsu related bug.
It's still a great game despite all the issues, though. And it's not broken enough that it could not be played in tournaments.
