Of Light and Darkness.
I played it for hours when I was a kid, got a huge boatload of nightmares, and I still don't know how the fuck to actually play it.
I just know that the game over screen involves a girl on a farm fence talking with her pops, and then the locusts come and you get to watch her and her pops slowly desiccate and dry up like mummies, and the narrator (A freaking fucking jack-in-the-box) laughs and tells you that the world just ended because YOU fucked up.

Ive heard of that. I downloaded so many strange indie game demos when I first got my wii.. that was one of them. 'world of goo" (and "cave story") is another. I know none of these are retro but I've discovered a ton of interesting games through the wii shop thing
