This. SMB3 and SMW have more stuff, but the gameplay in SMB is the most satisfying.
SMB1 is my favorite . also, I love 3 and World and go back and forth on which of those I like better
The best Mario games have numbers next to them.
Bros 3, 64, Galaxy 2, 3D World.
the ones without numbers like World, Galaxy or Sunshine arent that good.

Most Mario games were released at the right time and with the right marketing. Best Mario game is subjective.Can't pick my favorite but I love almost all of them except for Sunshine but that's not /vr/-related anyway.
