So aside from fighting games, are there any instances where the Saturn got the better version of third party releases?
>>
I keep hearing it has the best version of Tomb Raider since it was originally developed with the hardware in mind. Not sure how true that is since I've never actually played any of those games.

Saturn version of Silhouette Mirage is better than PSX.
>>
Croc is debatable but I'd say the Saturn version is overall better.
Pretty much any fps. Ie. Powerslave.
>>

It's close but the overall higher res textures and less bugs make the PS1 version better imo. Most people would never run into the bugs but they are there in the Saturn version.

Didn't Tomb Raider on PS1 also have the typical transparency effects not found in Saturn games? Not that it makes a big difference.

Grandia

best metal slug
>>
>>3187438
Not sure? I thought the Saturn version was better in that regard?
>>
>>3187424
One of the Mega Man games on Saturn had 2 extra bosses if that counts.
>>
Gunbird, Sexy Parodius, Thunder Force V, Darius Gaiden, and Megaman 8.

nope

Mega Man, Metal Slug, Darius Gaiden, Tomb Raider, Duke Nukem 3D. I don't know many Playstation games, so I don't know what Saturn games were also on it.
>>
Soviet Strike and Grandia

uhhh

have you ever played it? i'm a saturnfag but the slowdown in the saturn version is unbearable at best.
>>

So Saturn version is better.

I did.

The PSX port doesn't support dualshock, but the 3D Pad is supported in the saturn version for analogue controls.

>Saturn version has terrible fps, resolution is smaller, textures aren't as detailed, there's no transparency, texture linear interpolation is even more apparent than on PS1 and Saturn version avoid a lot more drawing polygons by adding darker colours. Also it seemed to me that Saturn version only has pre-baked lighting when PS1 version has a little dynamic lighting but I'm not 100% sure on that. PS1 is way ahead of the Saturn.

Thanks for your /v/ opinion, champ.

They're both shit compared to the PC version.

Thanks for being retarded, faggot.

>TFV
It has more slowdown and less content than the PSX version, though.
>>
most arcade ports and many VN / adventure games

notably symphony of the night / mm8 / mmx4 are better on ps1 granted it was the main development platform

It came out a year after the PS version, but Saturn Tokimemo had a few minor additions the PS version lacked.
>>
>>3187424
Rockman 8.
>>
>>3188142
Yeah, sure, but the game isn't very good either way. Castlevania had more content on the saturn but ran worse, so maybe a tie?
>>
>>3187628
PS1 version did support analog (or at least the version I played). It doesn't improve the controls one bit, but the right analog stick camera control was neat and probably the earliest instance of a platformer doing it.
>>
>>3187428
Weird how the Saturn version totally lacks foreground effects until after the intro. Why is the sound miles better in the Saturn version, though?
>>
Most Saturn shmup ports were superior to their PS1 counterparts.

Early EA games have bedder frame rates on saturn. Slip stream 5000 has a smoother frame rate also.

Nah, Tomb Raider looks terrible on Saturn.

PC version is better than both.
