Here let me help bro! You'll definitely thank me for this!

Nah son you have to go to GAME and ask for Disc Care for £1.
>>
My friend used a disc dr once on a DC game. The while thing looked like some weird fan pattern afterward. He eventually sold it to funcoland, who had to test it before buying. It worked fine
>>
They make you buy the funniest gadgets for the simplest things in Capitalist land.

In Eastern Europe, people just exhale some hot air on the disc, wipe nicely and if the disc is salvageable the job is done. No monetary or time costs.
>>
>>3168779
most pawn shops in my area will clean a disc for a dollar. pretty decent deal imo.

Jesus Christ, how drunk do you have to be where that actually works?

Wow thanks man. You can borrow my DVD rewinder if you want.
>>

I remember seeing ads for that in GamePro a decade ago. Even the second-grade me thought it looked retarded.

>>3168858
>people just exhale some hot air on the disc, wipe nicely and if the disc is salvageable the job is done. No monetary or time costs.
Nah it's the same here.
>>
Is there anything in-between Skip Dr. and 2,000 dollar resurfacer?

Asking for a friend who didn't take care of his PS1 games very well.
>>
>>3169121
Just go to the movie store and have them resurface for like two-three bucks
>>
>>3169131
>movie store

Do you know where I can buy a time machine too?
>>
>>3168779
I had one of these things it actually worked quite well
>>
I remember the local FYE/Sam Goody sold some shit that looked like ointment that you rubbed on the CD. It did absolute jackshit and was a waste of money. It wasn't until I got an electric SkipDr that scratched (or in this case formerly scratched) CDs would work right again.
>>
>>3169137
We still have one nearby, I had them resurface Star Ocean Second Story and it went from not booting up to working the whole way through. It was bought second hand so I was thrilled. I also live in bumfuck nowhere in the US so maybe that's why movie stores still exist.
>>
>>3169154
Our store closed about 10 years ago but I used to date the owner's daughter so maybe I can get back with her long enough to resurface my games
>>
>>3169203
Oh shit, I chuckled. Nice man, I hope you net a resurfacer and a round two.

My brother and I tried it and were terrified at how it looked, but let it keep going and the pattern almost disappeared, and the game worked fine.

Yes, JFJ Easy Pro is about $120 and works great.

Use toothpaste

You guys can tell me its a myth but I tried everything with Legend of Dragoon and it didnt work till I used toothpaste.
>>
>>3170902
The response above you was me literally saying the toothpaste didn't help
>>
>>3170903
Depends on what kind of toothpaste you use.

Lies, Eastern Europe does not have disc game, only Dendy.

Only highest party members receive console quickly, for rest is 5 year wait for delivery. Console and game cartridge come with complimentary 400lb block of concrete with chain to prevent theft by Muscovite gopnik or Jew.

Dude, you pretty much answered your own question.
>>
>>3169121
Just ask to have them resurfaced at a store, it's cheap. Some places will even do it for free.

“Second World” refers to the former communist-socialist, industrial states, (formerly the Eastern bloc, the territory and sphere of influence of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic) today: Russia, Eastern Europe (e.g., Poland) and some of the Turk States (e.g., Kazakhstan) as well as China.

Learn some fucking history, idiot child.

>>3172532
Of course it is.

First world = USA
Second world = USSR
Third world = everyone else
>>
>>3174632
*USA and Western Europe allies.

Third World = shithole is just a colloquial usage as a result of all third world countries being, indeed, shitholes.
>>
>>3173520
>>3173536
>>3174632
>>3174643
Meanings and definitions change you gay faggots, because I'm certainly not calling you a happy bundle of sticks right now.

Switzerland and Sweden were technically Third World nations if going by the old Cold War definition, but since the Cold War died over 20 years ago, the use of the words came to change, with First World becoming a term to describe a wealthy and developed nation, and Third World to describe what is an impoverished and underdeveloped nation, and if we're gonna be real, most Communist states were (are) impoverished shitholes, so it wasn't a difficult leap to make.

I swear to god you twats literally look for excuses to implicitly brag about how old you are.
>>
>>3174989
To fill in, there is no Soviet Union anymore, so there's no reason to go by the original definitions.
>>
>>3174989
>hay guise
>here's why the wrong usage of the term should be considered right
>not understanding the difference between a country being shitty because of communism and a country that is shitty on its own
This is like arguing that the expression "he has a huge temper on him" should be recognized as valid simply because the majority of people think a temper is a bad thing.
>>
>>3176084
My point is that the meaning of the term has changed, because the previous definition stopped being relevant.
>>
I used one of these on gta3. It made all the texture data unreadable
>>
>>3171031
It was a gag gift that you could pass off to gullible people. They don't make 'em anymore, though.
>>
>>3176582
I've heard stories about rental store employees putting them on the counter and insist to customers that "Yes, you really do need to rewind DVDs" just to laugh at them later.
>>
>>3174989
>why do people insist on using old definitions!!!?
>why can't they understand that my definitions are better?!?!
>aargghh! you just don't get it!!!
Another angsty snowflake who thinks the internet will put up with the same shit his mom does.
>>
>>3168858
In Brazil we used those toothpaste with abrasive (micro particles whatever) to clean the disc. Just pour it there and smear it with your fingers.

Job done
>>
>>3168779
I had one of those. Not sure if it really did anything though. These days I just pay the game store $1 per disc to make my games perfect again.
>>
>>3168779
I was quite responsible with disc games since my dad taught me how to handle his music ones, so I applied the same "if you scratch my CDs, I'm smacking the shit out of you with my day-worker hands" logic.
>>
>>3179569
>my definitions
Where did I say I devised the defintions, melonhead? I explained that the use of these words changed and why the old definitions are long since irrelevant.
There is no second world by the old definition anymore, so the first and third world definitons are irrelevant, as they don't have to be distinguished by their allegiance in a conflict that no longer is.

You're not adding anything to a discussion with
>ackshually, third world means...
because that meaning is changed, it doesn't make you look old and matured, it makes you look like a sperg who brags about clickbait articles he's read
>>
>>3168779

I had one and it worked just fine
>>
>>3174989
>Meanings and definitions change you gay faggots
Alright then, what's the new definition of "second world country" then?
Not first or third, since that wasn't the issue. Second world.
How is it used anywhere other than to mean Soviet states?
>>
>>3181696
The way I see it used is to describe developed but poor countries, like Russia
>>
You can tell when one of these is used on a Gamecube disk by the scratches on the plastic.

Spot the underage idiots who didn't grow up when CDs or DVDs were around.

>>3181696
I bet you all literally use literally in the literal sense.
>>
>>3185250
Of course, using literally to mean figuratively would be like using left to mean right.
>>
>>3184772
I was taught from an early age to handle disc media with care and respect, particularly the reading side, so I never had to get gadgets to fix them.
>>
>>3170902
Are you me or my brother?
If the latter, call Mom. She's worried about you.

You do realize the UK is a very, very small place, right? It's like Brits think their island is the center of the world or something... hue
>>
>>3186321
not a britbong, but at one point it was the center of the world. it seems they still have that view.
>>
>>3185735
Yeah, I too keep good care of my stuff. That doesn't change the fact that idiots who think it's a gag or somehow breaks discs are underage idiots who have never seen one.

Strange that you'd take offense to this...
>>
>>3169792
Seconding this. Only game I couldn't save was a copy of Digimon World that had seen hell and probably worse which I won in a random eBay lot. It doesn't work on Blu-rays and GD-Roms are a bit temperamental but cds and dvds it will fix all day.
>>
>>3188397
I don't take offense at it what so ever, I'm merely stating that you don't need them if you're not a mouthbreather, except maybe if you're looking to buy a lot of shit at yard sales, because god knows what some retard did, probably kept the discs on the floor or in a pile while playing.

>>3188412
You could probably use a proper disc buffer and the game would have worked fine.
>>
>>3181451
Same here. It did leave a weird pattern on the disks, but it removed scratches and damaged disks worked fine after using it. I don't know why so many people in this thread seem to think it's a disk cleaner.
>>
>>3189783
>I don't know why so many people in this thread seem to think it's a disk cleaner.
It's just youtube morons perpetuating ignorant opinions, plus the underages who follow them.
>>
>>3189783
Yeah, these aren't cleaners or really even something to use to remove small scratches for cosmetic reasons. They're last ditch efforts to cheaply revive a damaged to the point that it doesn't play or skips disc.
>>
>>3168820
Went to game 2 years ago and the cunt at the desk added 50p onto the purchase for this.

"The box says £12, why's it £12.50?"
"That's the disc insurance, so if it's scratched you can just take it back and we'll fix it up or get you another"
"But surely you've checked it's working before selling it"
"Yeah, but this is just in case, it covers you for a year"
"I don't want it, thanks"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"But like, it's just 50p mate"

I'm struggling not to just fucking walk out at this point. He argued it a few more times and got all cunty, cancelled it and started again without the added charge. Fucking cunt fucking pirates, I can't wait for the high street to become entirely for shitty vapes and kebabs.
