Daily reminder that everyone that made Konami special back in their glory days now works for Good Feel.

Treasure's staff now either work at M2, Good Feel Tokyo or have since retired and is now a IP holder.
You can blame Iga & Kojima for Konami's down fall
>>
>>3162393
The Goemon team made Contra, Castlevania, Parodius and Silent Hill? News to me.
>>
>>3162419
They also the Gradius (Kobe did the MSX trilogy (MSX-Salamander, 2 and GnYE2) when Tokyo did the arcade trilogy plus arcade Salamander as well) trilogy and TwinBee as well.

>>
>>3162443
Still not as bad as Mighty No.9.
>>
>>3162441
Who did the Otomedius games then?
>>
>>3162457
Those were made after Good Feel was founded and the original shump staff was laid off.

Smaller companies made the 2 games when M2 ported the first game to the 360 from it's arcade board, Iga produced the second game.

>>
>>3162471
Funny you've said that, I heard the 360 arrange mode is much better than the arcade.
>>
>>3162393
>You can blame Iga & Kojima for Konami's down fall
Nah to be fair it was more like the rise of cellphones and the inflated production costs coupled with insufficient sales from AAA titles that were responsible for the fall.
>>
Interesting

>>
>>3162549
this desu senpai i mean yeah kojima was basically Konami's bitch and had no freedom, but Konami couldn't transition well into this new era of games like many companies couldn't transition to 3D not too long ago. History has a funny way of repeating itself in my opinion.
>>
>>3162579
It's not funny that I'll never see another Goemon release ever again, anon.
>>
>>3162549
Speaking as a downsized Konami employee, it was the sudden dropoff of interest in the rhythm game genre and complete obliteration of arcade culture thereof that killed the company (and my career in the video games industry.)
>>
>>3162585
Goemon sucked anyways, it was Konami's answer to Nintendo, like Capcom's was Megaman and Sega's was Sonic. Only casuals with generic taste like these series.
>>
>>3162553
eww nintenbabby games
>>
>>3162587
That too, only pachinko sells these days.
>>
>>3162590
>look how cool I am saying stuff sucks and calling people casuals

Keep it classy /vr/.
>>
>>3162598

Go back to playing sonic, autist.
>>
>>3162587
Probably wouldn't have been such a sudden death if the DDR X cabs weren't such complete shit.
>>
>>3162393
>blame Iga & Kojima for Konami's down fall
>not Yoshitaka
>>
>>3162587
Rhythm games were always shit, glad that meme genre died off for good.
>>
>>3162585
I'm sad we'll never see a sequel to snatcher or policenauts or even another salamander game. Konami, capcom, and Sega are mere shadows of their former selves. I'm glad SNK is making a comeback but how long can it last? It's sad to see them go like this but this is the reality of things and its sadly something we really can't control.
>>
>>3162632
It really evolved in Japan to a whole bunch of weird different things. Here in the West we don't really care about that stuff and there was nowhere to go when people started to retreat to their own homes to play video-games.
>>
>>3162587
>>3162632
literally how wrong can you be, especially with how successful Sound Voltex, maimai, (surprisingly) BeatStream and Chunithm have been, rhythm games are making a come back

Even in America, where we're finally getting DDR localized again at D&B, and we have places in the country on e-Amuse for IIDX/SDVX

>>3162629
this though, fuck off yoshitaka
>>
>>3162638

don't kid yourself. snk isn't making a comeback
>>
>>3162646
I'm still keeping my hopes up for KOF XIV and the port of Last Blade 2 they look very promising. They said thanks to the sales on Steam they were finally able to leave pacinko business. They said after KOF XIV they'd work on reviving Samurai Shodown so there's hope. But i mean if those fail, yeah SNK is fucked and going the way of Konami and Capcom or worse, Data East. Capcom is barely surviving and Konami is basically thrown in the towel. Namco no clue but it seems they're doing fine??
>>
>>3162660
>Capcom is barely surviving
What do you mean? They still make billions of dollars and are doing just fine. Their games are kinda shitty now, sure, but I won't go there because that's not retro.

I do agree about Konami though. It's in that stage where they don't need to sell any property but can't or won't make anything out of it. Also I just read on their wiki that they own a chain of fitness center in Japan? Branching out I see.
>>
>>3162623
fucking THIS
>>
>>3162682
Last time i heard they weren't doing so hard i mean SF V was made because sony gave them money to make it and they were losing money. But i mean if it sold enough to help save the capcom, then i learned something new.

Konami yeah their game division is dead but they have different branches that seem to be doing fine. People also forget that Konami holds the rights to Hudson soft games and those will be in limbo...

>they own a chain of fitness center in Japan?
yeah and some gambling stuff too so those are doing fine but i mean /vr/ wise we remember them for the quality games they made like Contra, Gradius, Jackal, and licensed stuff.
>tfw no bomberman games will never be made again or Star Soldier
>>
>>3162692
The fact that Sony had to co-finance SFV should tell you all you need to know. SFIV sold plenty. Everything else did so shit that it put them in a situation where they couldn't find a sequel to a popular game.
>>
>>3162743
*fund
>>
>>3162743
It's a shame but this is what capcom gets for trying to adapt their old IPs into COD clones in a what I haven't been too happy with their decision since the beginning of the decade.
Now capcom is going more towards mobile soon. This isn't the future i wanted.
>>
>>3162752
The "westernization" of capcom's franchises is all Inafune's fault
>>
>>3162832
Agreed, Inafune is a con-man i don't feel bad for the people who lost their money kickstarting his games.
>>
>>3162393
>You can blame Iga & Kojima for Konami's down fall

As far as Igavanias go no one is to blame but the fanbase for buying those up more than anything else. There have been multiple attempts to release classic style Castlevania games after Symphony and they all flopped. Kojima was just some golden goose they held onto for as long as possible until MGSV started taking forever to go nowhere. An example of someone being responsible for a company's downfall would be Inafune who was pushing really hard for terrible decisions like outsourcing IPs to western devs before leaving Capcom.
>>
Wasn't Iga complaining day one after SotN that Konami just wasn't taking him seriously enough, forcing him to work with handhelds when he wanted to work on consoles and giving him no budget for the 3D PS2 titles?
And hadn't Kojima wanted to quit making MGS titles for a while now, MGS2 in particular being about his burn out?
Ask me, what killed Konami were the higher ups who'd rather be running a casino than a gaming division.
Hell, I remember reading an article about the conditions there shortly before their crash and burn. Key staff being demoted to cleaning toilets for minor "indiscretions", internet taken away from employees after an inconsequential e-mail leak and so on. Hell, rumors of the shit conditions at Konami have been under the surface for years, just read up on Silent Hill's development to see a classic case of how doing anything there was an uphill battle with management.
>>
>>3163184
>There have been multiple attempts to release classic style Castlevania games after Symphony and they all flopped.

>put Adventure ReBirth as a Wiiware exclusive
Gee, I wonder why it flopped...

Brilliant decision, Konami execs.
>>
>>3162692
Well I know now why SFV has such a shitty DLC model and why I dont really like the game compared to the earlier ones. It feels like SFx Tekken all over again in a way

FUCK YOU KOJIMA
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>3163184
>There have been multiple attempts to release classic style Castlevania games after Symphony and they all flopped
Because they were bad games.
>>
>>3163302
Why don't you play Mystic Warriors instead of posting epic memes?
>>
>>3162549
>the inflated production costs
who do you think was responsible for this?
it was kojima and his autistic movie game metal gear solid
>>
>>3162590
>Goemon sucked anyways, it was Konami's answer to Nintendo, like Capcom's was Megaman
What?
>>
>>3163312
He was implying they were cashing in on the wacky kiddy mascot platformer craze of the time.
>>
>>3163303
Chronicles and Adventure ReBirth were not bad.
>>
>>3162585
You will, it'll be mobile or pachinko though.
>>
>>3163332
Yeah, but one was released on a dying system, the other non physically as an exclusive on a shovelware system almost everyone but bowling grandpas had abandoned by then.
>>
>>3163184
But Capcom is still in better shape than Konami. At least they still make Monster Hunter.
>>
>>3162638
I think Sega can recover. They have made a lot of terrible decisions, but also some good ones. The Atlus acquisition has been pretty fine so far, and their willingness to just let other people use their ips is pretty good for the fans. They are restructuring themselves right now, and I hope the upcoming years are fine for them.
>>
>>3162543
>I heard the 360 arrange mode is much better than the arcade.
M2 did the arrange made was the thing.
>>3162549
I'm sure that If Kojima left instead of of Maegawa none of this would of ever happen.
>>3162593
Good Feel is not ND Cube, Good Feel's stuff is quality and is 2nd only to HAL Labs.

They however did alot of preschool shovelware however as well as Simon's Quest & Snake's Revenge.
>>3162587
I'm sure that if Kojima left instead of Maegawa that you will still have a job.
>>3162629
Kojima & Iga did alot more harm, this was Umezaki's babe were talking about.
>>3162660
Namco is mostly leaching off of Bandai's Pretty Cure merch at this point.
>>3162692
SFV did so bad that it cleared out Wii U stock for Pokken it was that bad.

Also the Hudson stuff is on Wii U & 3DS Virtual Console so it is not in limbo.
>>3162743
Pokken creamed it however.
>>3162853
I would of not called him a con artist at this point.
>>3163234
If only Umezaki & Maegawa were running the company.
>>3163260
Adventure ReBirth sold over 500,000 downloads, thats not a flop.
>>3163303
Not Rebirth, M2 did that one.
>>3163332
Chronicles was a X68000 port when Rebirth sold over 500,000 downloads.

They did more then fine.
>>
>>3162645
>where we're finally getting DDR localized again at D&B
>using old machines counts as "again"
>>
>>3163514
The last few machines used firmware updates to update the music tracks was the thing.
>>
Always remember that Konami can still license their IPs to other companies. Like they did with Momotaro Densetsu.
>>
>>3163524
We never got that ND Cube Momotaro game however.
>>
>>3163451
>I'm sure that if Kojima left instead of Maegawa that you will still have a job

Thanks for the unsolicited opinion on someone I don't know, never met, and never worked with somehow causing gamers to lose interest in DDR and Bemani.
>>
>>3163451
Are you the same guy that said Maegawa invented Frogger and most of Konami's notable early IP's?

You're fucking mental, bro.
>>
>>3164050
No.
>>
>implying the team that worked on classics like Violent Storm and Mystic Warriors moved onto doing Nintendoshit
kek
>>
>>3164108
The Nintendo game they did are very high quality.
>>
>>3164115
It will never be as good as Konami's team during their peak. Too based for this world.
>>
>>3164118
To be fare they were made for shumps.
>>
>>3162393
>tfw you haven't won the lottery yet to buy out all those unused ips and bring them back to life

Maybe this is the second crash and we're all in denial about it or companies are good at hiding it to squeeze our wallets while they still can.
>>
>>3164108
word

violent storm is the best final fight clone
>>
>>3162590
>Goemon sucked anyways

The things one has to read on this board.

You console warriors really are something.
