How does /vr/ feel about GCW Zero and others handheld like that?

Too expensive.
>>
>>3161336
I have Dingoo A320.
Why it is better over PSP or it's not?
>>
>>3161527
This. Most of them have garbage specs anyway and the ones that don't run outdated versions of Android.

If I buy an off-brand handheld I'm going to wait for the GPD Win.
>>
>>3161336
I feel about the same as the last turn I dropped.

>>3161615
You can' beat a dingoo on size and battery life
>>
I preordered an Open Pandora in the first batch, got it four years later, and never really used it for anything. I still never really use it now.
>>
>>3162341
It was obsolete when you ordered it and even more so when it shipped.
>>
>>3162353
When I ordered it in 2006, there was nothing else like it available costing less than $500. Pandora cost about half that much after currency conversion at the time--they raised the price quite a bit much later on.

It was hilariously obsolete when my unit shipped. The purpose of "Open" Pandora had originally been to maintain and grow a community of emulator hackers who would keep the system alive through their work. But not long after their preorders opened, smartphones emerged into the mainstream and those "communities" were blown wide open. The attention of "developers" was totally refocused on that.

There was nothing with that horrible keyboard and controls. I'll give you that. And you'd have to mod a phone or netbook to get it to run that slow so there's also that.
>>
did these have their own exclusive carts?
>>
My wife's son's husband bought one for my wife's bull as an MLK day gift. He loves it!

The Pyra is gonna be way cooler
>>
>>3161336
Whats the point, when it can barely do what a GP2X/Wiz/Caanoo could do?

GPD XD is my personal go to open handheld. It can emulate up to Dreamcast and Sega Saturn surprisingly well.

nah. it's got a 16gb internal microSD and an external microSD port. Though programs for Dingux on the Zero do have thier own format called OPK. Which is a zip file wrapper that includes an icon and shortcut stuff for the frontend along with line command shit.

Got one and it's my on the go Doom machine.

I got one of these

only bad side is that the backlight shines through the plastic from a combination of a replacement screen and a replacement white case
>>
>>3164380
Is front plastic changeable?
I washed it with alcohol and it got blurry.
>>
>>3164385
they sold replacement cases on some chinese site idk if you could get one anymore
>>
>>3164391
Do you have Dingux on it?
When I load Dingux on it, some high-pitch noice apperars. Is it possible to get rid of it?
>>
>>3164405
I don't, sorry
>>
Can someone tell me what's the best handheld to enjoy as much 2D games as possible?
>>
>>3164408

Pandora was amazing when it came out but of course very few people got to use it when it was relevant. I had a Tapwave Zodiac and was very jealous
>>
>>3161336
Last I heard, GCW Zero had terrible buttons which were never improved
>>
Are there any consoles on modern market with similar to Dingoo A320 sizes?
>>
>>3164410
android device with a good controller, Ipega 9037 or 9023 or something like that, there's literally no better option
>>
>>3166062
That doesn't sound good.
I'd like to have something I can stick in my pocket. Something more portable
>>
>>3163164
can you explain why ?
genuinely interested, I want to believe
>>
>>3166072
GPD XD.
Pretty good specs with the portability of a New 3DS XL when closed
>>
>>3167382

Kinda torn on if I want to buy a dedicated handheld android emulator or just use my phone + a controller. The GPD does sound like what I'm looking for in a portable, but $250 is hefty.
>>
>>3168484
the gpd XD is 150.

I'm currently filling an old PSP 2000 I found in my draw with roms and emulators, probably would've gone with a GCW if I didn't still have that old psp
>>
Hey
>>
>>3167382
Still, it's pretty hueg + hinges
I'm dreaming about durable handheld that easily fits in my pocket, can run all the 2D games I can dream of and maybe even few dos games.
Also good battery life.
