Arcade Contra sucked and NES Contra was GOAT.
>>3168917
Contra had arcade version?
>>3169141
Yeah, it had better graphics of course, but feels odd after playing the NES version, in part for use of a vertical screen, and in part for the music being slower-paced. I'm going off of some old memories on that report though, so don't take my word as gospel.

>"""""better""""" graphics
NES version was GOAT in every regard.

I remember when I first started really getting into mame and trying out all the shit I had never heard of. I thought the Vs. Nintendo games would be exact ports, but I was never happier to be wrong. I about shit myself laughing then made a roaring cheer when the bonus minigame came up and I figured out I could finally shoot that fucking dog after all these years. Bonus points be damned, nothing felt better than giving that cheeky fucker what for. Christ these games were good, I'm a big fan of Vs. Pinball too, such a fun improvement over the NES version.
The hottest girl on any sidescroller, ever
shitty hard
Donkey kong
Final fantasy
Metroid will forever and always be my most beloved NES game.

>Jackal
Jackal never gets enough love. The stage design is superb, and those boss fights are so freakin' awesome.
>>3160619
>Adventure Island
Fantastic choice, but can you beat it, anon?

>River City Ransom
Yes! It's rare when a beat 'em up game gets me this excited, but River City Ransom has so much to offer. I spent hours powering up my guy and devising clever ways to overcome my adversaries.
Jumping on walls in the background, and dashing to the end of each area became a guilty pleasure of mine.

>Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers
My childhood. Amazing game, and adorable cartoon.
not related but I was enjoying this game until I realized your experience keeps each time you gameover, but not if you turn the system off. What am I supposed to do? Just restart or save state?
compare to those, Duty of Call is as easy as shit
Wheni was a kid, I could play those games for whole days all day nights

I became incredibly frustrated with Metroid for three reasons:
1. You start with 30 energy.
2. Health drops are only either 5 points or 20 points
3. Enemies hurt you through the door.
