Super Nintendo when it came out, S-N-E-S later. I called the NIntendo the Nintendo for years until I started calling it the N-E-S
>>
>>3144617
This, except as a kid, I added "original/regular" to "Nintendo" for the NES.
>>
Super Duper Nintenpooper
>>
I called the PAL one a SNES and the US one a Super BuickDrive.

I was actually surprised upon coming to /vr/ to learn I'm in the minority in that regard.

god fucking damn why didnt we at least get the PAL design, NA snes is so fucking ugly and so are the carts.

Why? BECAUSE WE SAVED YOUR ASS IN THE WAR! so deal with it!

Called it Supes Nintens. I was a pretty cool kid in the 90s.

Never heard it called anything other than 'Super' or just 'Super Nintendo' but I'm old as fuck.

If you actually grew up with the system: "Super Nintendo"

If you're a emulator kiddie who played "retro" games on his laptop in highschool to seem "cool": "SNESsss"

This. It's a definite tell when someone says snessss. I never heard this growing up. I'm 32.

Usually "Super Nintendo", sometimes "Sness". I don't mind any pronunciation except the weird "Snezz" that I hear some Brits say. That really clonks my bonkers.

27 here and the closest thing would be Super NES, and even that was just in commercials. Everyone I knew called it a Super Nintendo, and even hardcore segafags like me knew this.
>>
sea ness
>>
Called it "Super" or "The Super" when talking to friends/brothers, as in "wanna play the super?"
Typical Australian language shortening bullshit I guess.
Call the NES "the nintendo" and the N64 "the 64"
>>
>>3144698
we called it the reg-lar Nin-ten-doh.
snes was the Su-per Nin-ten-doh.
>>
>>3145503
Texasfag? That's how it was for me, too.
>>
>>3145514
I'm from DFW suburbs and I believe I called it the S-N-E-S or Super N-E-S most of the time, with perhaps the occasional Super Nintendo. Kinda hard to remember, honestly.
>>
>>3145529
I'm like 30 minutes away from Ft. Worth.
>>
>>3145534
Cool, I live in Plano. I know there are some other posters on here are from the DFW area.
>>
>>3145570
I'm from Austin, currently living just outside of Houston.

My friends and I called it either "Super Nintendo" or "Super N-E-S".
>>
>>3145818
Fort Hood area, I always heard Super Nintendo.
>>
>>3144603
it went like this:
>nintendo
>super
>64
>sega

....and everything else had its normal name.

I cant stand when i hear people say "ness" or "s'ness"... like nails on a chalk board.
>>
Super Nintendo, and I still call it that in person. I usually type it as SNES because it's shorter and easier, though.
>>
>>3145435
I called it Super Nintendo.
>>
I called it "Sega cassette system"
>>
NES: N-E-S, Original Nintendo
SNES: S-N-E-S, Super Nintendo
N64: N-64, Nintendo 64

>>3146420

NESS and S'NESS sound awful to me. First person I heard pronounce them that way was JonTron.
>>
>>3146481
>NES: N-E-S, Nintendo
>SNES: S-N-E-S, Super Nintendo
>N64: N-64, The 64

This or super nintendo sometimes.
>>
Regular Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Nintendo Sixty Four (but I knew a kid that called is the "SNES 64" which always baffled me)
>>
>>3145497
Wow, here was the same although i'm chileanfag.
>>
>>3144603
we called it "el super" in spicland
>>
NES = N-E-S
SNES = Super Nintendo

NES is less ambiguous than "Nintendo" and shorter than Nintendo Entertainment System. Super Nintendo rolls off the tongue better than S-N-E-S and isn't ambiguous at all.
>>
>>3146420
This guy gets it
>>

everything was Nintendo until 64
Sega was Genesis
no one owned a Saturn

I didn't call it anything because I didn't know anyone that had one because eastern Europe.

Same. Still irks me when people pronounce it as a word: "Snes" rather than "S-N-E-S"

NES = Nintendo, old Nintendo, original Nintendo
SNES = Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64 = N64, 64, Nintendo 64

Everyone always called the NES "Nintendo" when it was still Nintendo's only system, just like they always called the Atari 2600 "Atari." Unfortunately, that doesn't really work in the modern vernacular because everyone thinks of the company first, and Nintendo has made lots of systems that are well known. I adjusted to calling it the "N.E.S." as an adult because people immediately know which Nintendo system I'm talking about that way.

With "Super Nintendo" everyone instantly knows which system I'm talking about, so there was never a need to call it "Super N.E.S.", "S.N.E.S.", or god forbid "Sness."

Everyone in the '90s knew the two big systems were Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
>>
>>3144603
Super Nintendo

or

"Ess en ee ess"

or Super NES
>>
"Sness" actually offends me. What a terrible way to refer to the system. I can just imagine you britcucks as insufferable fat children spewing SNESSSSS from your slimey lips. Gross.
>>
Did any US posters on here either hear or use SNESS back in the day (as in, say, pre-2000). I was big into the console back when it was current and I honestly don't think I ever heard that pronunciation until within maybe the past 10 years or so.
>>
>>3147260
I never heard anyone say SNESS up until a couple years ago on the internet.

>>3147380

>>
>>3147380
Not really sure, I've been hearing it more often lately, and using it myself for brevity. Caring how other people pronounce the name of a toy seems silly.

I called it the SNES, as in "Ess Ness", and called the NES either the "Ness" or "En Eee Ess"

Australia.
Before the SNES existed the NES was just called: "Nintendo".

When the SNES came out: the NES became "old Nintendo" in front of parents, or norms who weren't into vidya.

When speaking with friends or vidya-playing people: it was "ness". No "z" sounds. Rhymes with "yes".

The SNES was referred to as: "Super Nintendo" to the parent and norms.

And yes, the SNES was referred to as "sness" to friends and those in the know.

I know this will sound painful and unbelievable to the Americans here. But this is all true for the part of the world I grew up in.

PS: it was "sea gah" and not "say gah" here also.
>>
"Nendo"

Brother and I were so lazy we cut it down a bit
>>
Honestly, noone I knew had a SNES.
Everyone went from NES to Playstation.

To this day I think I've only ever had one friend who owned one IRL.

I've never played on the real thing, just emulation
>>
It was always SNES, pronounced SNEZ in Ireland where I live. I knew SNEZ for a long time before I know what it meant, because "entertainment" is a fairly long and abstract word when you're 5.

I NEVER heard anyone call it "S-N-E-S" "SNESS" and if I did I would tell them they were pronouncing it wrong because they were. Spelling out an acronym like a fucking faggot, who ever would do that ffs.

Eat shit American neckbeards with ridiculous superiority complexes.

Supertendo.

But did you pronounce NES as "In-Eee-Ess" or "NEZZ"?
