I actually enjoy this podcast. It's done by two people who know what they're talking about, more often than not, and some of the banter and stories from the atari/nintendo age forums is new to me because I don't go on that site... Though I may check it out someday.

Listen, theres a fucking reason that Pat has <200,000 subscribers on youtube. His channel is just a place for the Podcast to live now. The video game years sucks, and his Pat the NES video's have been absolutely disregarded because of his stupid fucking book.
Ian has shitty absolutely terrible opinions and it gets incredibly old listening to him bitch and moan about stuff in games, and retail when it's readily apparent he doesn't give a shit about video games. I love how he thinks he's an authority because he's a "manager" at Luna (everyone is a Manager at Luna) a fucking TINY local game store and that some how gives him the right to blast resellers.
The hypocrisy is incredible. Pat and Ian constantly say they have to sell their games "high, but reasonable" so that they can sell to someone who actually wants it instead of a reseller, yet in the same breath they say collectors are the cancer killing video games while Pat sits in front of his "complete" NES collection.

I don't get what people want, nowadays it's harder to find tiny shops. Flea markets aren't bad but everyone is charging an arm and a leg now because of all the hype around collecting. I'm at the age now that I'm ready to downsize my collection and I might as well sell now before the bubble bursts.
I love original hardware but with the crazy prices on certain things emulation is the way to go. Same thing with my vinyl record collection, I've gotten so much for free over the years that it got out of hand. I'm just going to keep the stuff I'm actually going to listen to and sell the rest. I don't think I've ever sold a record or any of my video games over the last 30 years. I still have my original NES and Gameboy so obviously won't sell those but I guess I'm just outgrowing my need for collecting bulk.
Summer flea market is coming so maybe I'll give some deals there to kids and people I know aren't just going to flip it but I don't like ebay. I've been buying at flea markets and yard sales for years an I do sell other things there, just not video games. I can give some tips about buying at the flea market if anyone is interested.

My local place sells loose carts of NES, SNES, N64, and others. Mainly the rarer stuff or consoles are in cases. Even the CIB NES stuff are not in cases. And you can still buy SNES/N64/NES/Genesis and other carts for under 10 bucks if you look. I love my local shop

When I was at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, there was a table openly creating repros of sought after games without marking them otherwise. Now to a new employee not trained to look for that shit or random buyers just getting into collecting...that shit can get mixed in easily. (Yeah, people should do their due diligence of checking before investing too much into collecting, but c'mon). This customer knew more than they were letting on.
If the seller and the reddit poster are the same person, then they admitted as much as researching on their own about the prices. They were hoping for a quick profit, because otherwise, they would have tried eBay.
