I pose the question to you.
...first 1 then the other
>>3118054
Neither.
>>3118060
I only have a Genesis right now. Buying a model 1 Saturn with new batteries and scart and shit is too much for me right now.
>>3118063
You gotta do it man. It's seriously worth it.
>>3118080
It's really not. What's with you anyway do you have your copy up on ebay right now or something?
>>3118195
Nah, I use the ghetto swap trick to play all my Saturn games.
The original Shining Force games were great. Too bad the series went to shit.
>>3118054
2 is better god tier ost
>>3118054
2. Fantastic game, but I've never been able to really get into 1 or 3. 2 is a great package though, fantastic visuals, music, designs, just one of those 'got everything right' games.
Of the two I preferred the second.
But seriously play 3
2 or CD. Skip 3.
>>3118054
1 had better balance and graphics, 2 had better battles and music.
>>3119268
>1 had better balance
From characters easily falling behind, to characters recruited at ridiculously low levels.
From many useless characters, to characters that requires hours of grinding
From lack of weapon availability, to shitty balance between generic weapons and unique weapons
You can't possibly remember Shining Force, Shining Force is hella unbalanced.
>and graphics
This also isn't true, the battle sprites are notably inconsistent in Shining Force, some look like a giant, others shrink after being promoted, and many of them don't have idle animations.
Even the color pallet is dark and lifeless.
>>3119245
>Skip 3.
Kill this man.
I loved both games, but I have to go with 2. Jogurt is mah niggah though.
None of the above.
Shining in the Darkness.
>>3118054
They're all very worth playing. I would say 2 is the best, but that's partly why you should start with 1.
Ignore the people telling you not to play 3. It's good. But at the same time, don't blow $200 on it unless you have money to burn. Ditto with CD. Excellent, but not always worth the prices that get asked.
>>3120013
Holy shit, someone out there liked Shining in the Darkness?
I don't think either of them are still worth playing now that there so many better SRPGs on the market. Shining Force 1 is better for the sole reason that you have to do each battle only once while in Shining Force 2 you're forced to redo some battles 3+ times.
>>3120034
>Shining Force 2 you're forced to redo some battles 3+ times.
What the fuck are you talking about?
>>3120047
The battles on the world map have to be repeated every time you enter the area.
Is it possible to emulate the third game with Yabause or SSF now?
>>3120050
You don't have to repeat them.
There are like 5 battles that can be repeated in the game, all in areas that you don't have to revisit, and all of them are optional as they will only trigger if you step multiple times in the same tile.
>>3120025
Well I can't afford 1 and 2.
>>3120470
Just download the roms. It possible to complete those games in the 24 hours before you have to delete them.
>>3120476
I am buying games to enjoy on my living room couch late at night for a few hours on my original Genesis.
>>3120050
No, those are random encounters and are easily avoidable by not stepping on the squares that trigger them. You can even Egress and choose not to trigger them this time.
I just got Shining Force 1 & 2 on Steam. Should I try to play through them completely blind, or is it a good idea to use a gamefaqs walkthrough?
2 is better in anything.
>>3120057
Of course it is. Finished disc 1 and half on disc 2 on GiriGiri (horrible music and sound glitches), not that I have better PC, I have tried SSF and it's great.
>>3121541
>Get emulated from Steam jewlords
>Want free walkthrough
Sure, goi. Just gimme your credit card number and some smack.
>>3121541
Play them blind, they're not particularly hard games.
>>3121541
Why would you use faqs on first time for ANY fucking game? Are you autistic?
>>3121541
this is the kind of fucking logic emulator/steam kids have.
Buy emulated software that should be free, and then use a walkthrough.
>>3122316
Yep. But you can sometimes cast a spell that shows map.
>>3122206
Awesome, thank you. I haven't looked into them in years.
>>3122781
>all the hawk knights have terrible stat growth
I will never understand why they did this
>>3122815
Because the hawk knight from Shining Force CD was broken, so they tried to nerf them, but went too far.
shining force is just casualized fire emblem
>>3125230
Fire Emblem is a casualized FFT.
>>3125230
>something is something else
This meme.
>>3122781
>Gerhalt with his -1 speed Great tier
>The squadron of winged death mediocre
It's like you're pretending the battles are all played out in the same tiny map with no barriers. Having a decent compliment of high mobility everything turns a hideously boring battle into a 5 minute affair, even if their stats are comparatively shittier.
>>3122781
>someone used Higins so as to place him on this plot.
I have never used that guy. I'm pretty sure he's the only Shining Force 2 character I've never had in my party at any point.
1 & 2 both have excellent hoerz wives, but only 2 lets you control a midget Gamera.
>>3125780
Although his flame breath is bugged.
The damage is supposed to scale with his level, but it scales slower than its supposed to.
What games are more similar to this one I loved both but 2 was better for me
>>3126146
Langrisser on the same console
>>3126146
Have you played the Game Gear ones already?
I played them on Sega now I play them on ps 3 there both on the Sega collection disk
>>3125749
>>3125767
Ok, I lied and judged some characters just by their initial stats, without knowing that the have horrible growth.
Here's the true chart.
Whichever one has the sexiest horses.
>>3125230
And Fire Emblem is boring dogshit.
>>3118054
Part 2 for sure. One of my favourite RPGs of all time. One of the first I ever played as a kid. It still holds up alright too.
I could never get into SF1.
>>3126956
That'd be 2 by a country mile then.
Actually, everything in that game is dead sexy because of the spirtework. More importantly, are there any tools that let you edit growth rates?
