Post arranged soundtracks. Bonus points if it's arranged by the original composer.

6 tracks of SMT: Soul Hackers were rearranged for the 3DS rerelease by a man called Atsushi Kitajoh. He's a newer staff member at Atlus and has composed for some newer Persona and Trauma Center games. I think his work here is pretty good.

What if is arranged AND performed by the original composer, do I win a Retron V limited /vr/ edition?

The Brink of Time has great jazz (especially acid jazz) and pop arrangements of Chrono Trigger tracks. It was mostly composed/arranged by Mitsuda and it was released around the time the game came out.

https://youtu.be/If_nAMXaXmY

Secret of Mana+... This one is fucking amazing. It's a single hour-long track inspired by Mike Oldfield's albums (especially Tubular Bells) and prog-rock bands (like Pink Floyd). It was arranged/composed/performed by Hiroki Kikuta the original composer, and actually uses telephone sounds as instruments.

Ahh good shit. Yes your wife or wife's son may collect the prize.

I could never get into these kinds of arrangements, same with the Final Fantasy piano collections. I prefer ones that don't stray far from the style of the original tracks. Ocarina of Time has a really weird techo arranged album.

Link those final fantasy and Zelda albums?

I'm quite partial to this jazzy arrangement of Super Mario World music.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwxLlSv5mvIYwp57gwmVdcaANSE1f5yL8

Track 4 is my favorite, just for the way it starts off really sedate for the first 30 seconds or so and then really kicks in. Another album I like is Vampire Variations III, the OCRemix take on Super Castlevania IV.

http://ocremix.org/album/69/vampire-variations-volume-iii

Not a big fan of the Submerged City take in there (which is my favorite track in the original), but they can't all be winners. Of course, I also need to mention F-Zero Arranged, a smooth as fuck take on the original F-Zero soundtrack:

Another great album is the Actraiser Symphonic Suite:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL506A52733E3A5CE3

Some tracks from Actraiser were simply made for an orchestra. And of course, there's the 20th and 25th Anniversary Rockman Arrange albums:

These are some really cool shit too.

OOT also got a straight symphonic arrangment, some tracks are great but symphonic instruments just don't work on others. Not really fitting for something like Gerudo Valley.

Came to post that Super Mario World OST, it's one of my favorite arranged albums, and track 4 is also my favorite.
The producers of that OST was Sugiyama (the guy from Dragon Quest, among many others)

I know videos of people playing vidya music on piano are common as fuck, but people playing music for this game is quite unusual to find.

This one is really great, too bad the sound quality of the video is not too good.

Castlevania Perfect Selection

It has some fun cheesy 80s rap stuff

But also some beautiful arrangements like this

I wonder why it is that pianists fucking love vidya so much?

I'm a pianist myself, and I'm very clearly not alone.

Good hand-eye coordination. I don't know.

That's my guess. For me it's the music, which is generally good even in modern AAA games.
I can see that both keyboarding and video games require dexterity would also be a factor.
