Stick a retro pie in, force composite, BMO?
Seems like a neat project that would cost less than a game or two.
I rather enjoy 5" B&W screens for gaming, I've wondered how this board feels about them. Particularly the super hi-quality monochrome video monitors from Sony and Panasonic

I used to have one of the smaller ones and would watch TV on the bus all the time, haven't gamed on monochrome since Apple 2e in elementary school
>>3101554
why not just use a coaxial adapter and hook it up to a vcr?
I want to keep it portable. this should handle power for the Pi eh?

also that site is cool. I want that little robot looking casio color tv with the a/v in and monitor out but they are unobtanium.

I had a really weird nightmare involving one of those... it had some possessed army men donkey king game on it.
I didn't even know telle shaped like that existed though, till now.
Why not build a Radeon HD 4000 based integrated system into an 8" PVM for 15 KHz RGB output? Even has a handle.
mini tubes are cool
like the ones you find in old camcorder viewfinders
>>3102315
I have been considering a project built around one of these when I find one I like. I have a couple battery powered color 5" crts but man their shadow masks are COURSE
>>3102306
I'm poor.
this will cost
~$20 for a mint watchman
~$35 for a retropi
~$1 for a step down converter (power)
~$3 for a panel mount dual usb extension (controllers)
already have a usb gamepad
under $60 complete and I can toss it in a backpack. I think it would be cool for gb, monochrome pc and wonderswan games. maybe even get a green and amber overlay for the screen.
>>3102315
LGR made a video a few weeks back showcasing this very thing and ever since I have felt the urge to fool around with a mini crt.
>>3102306
it works on the 7000 series too
could use a 7750 for low power requirements
>>3102367
make a gigantic /vr/ google glass

if I use this method it should need a 75ohm resistor to ground on the signal wires right?
>>3102228
im a fucking sucker for those helmet-tv's, i wish i could find the one sega did for dreamcast but i dont think its possible, plus im sure they're expensive.
>>3102758
spherical
I have an old color portable TV but has no input jack. Can I still do something with it or is it useless?
>>3102765
goddamn radical
what's with that speccy though?
>>3102315
I have a full size vhs camcorder I just got a couple weeks ago for $2 from a thrift store and have been thinking about doing that.
>>3102798
Look into using the rod antenna as an input.
>>3102804
not mine. looks like a sd card reader or something.
interesting. it'd be amusing if someone turned one of these guys into a tiny ass arcade machine.
>>3102315
Some anon did just that a few /crt/ thread ago.
>>3102849
like, removing it and plugging a cable in? is such a thing possible? I'm sorry, I've never actually had a TV that used rabbit ears for signal.
>>3102375
A non shitty Virtual Boy?
>>3102973
or maybe the worst oculus rift ever
>>3101554
>BMO?
it wouldn't be that original of a thing , sorry.

and those are the ones made with a Pi.
>>3102758
look in the all in one console thread, super rare and the last functioning one one that I know of on the market sold for over $5k
>>3102798did you even bother clicking op's link? or did you come here with a bib on expecting to be spoon fed?
>>3102987 not everyone needs to be a special snowflake. Also those are all color lcd screens, not the same.
>>3103015
didn't even notice the link to be honest
>>3103084
now i feel rude. beware I think a 75ohm resistor to ground would be needed on the signal wiring. if you dont want to be fully portable a type-f to 3.5mm/1/8in stereo plug should carry audio and video input to the ext antenna input on the set. pobably want to order a mono as well just in case. these are really uncommon mods.
>>3102959
If you look it up I think you just touch the center wire from coax cable to the antenna, something like that.
>>3103160
you can strip the connector off a rf adapter and hardwire it to the antennae wiring
>>3103170
Yeah it's pretty easy.
>>3101554
Buy a jxd, play same games on good color screen.
Only down side is you don't get invited to the whitehouse
In the world of small old TVs there is also this:
http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/bchafy/gw/tvinapc.html
>Old Gateway PC transformed into a Linux server with embedded display, which is a hacked portable B&W TV driven directly by the VGA card.
>>3102804
Looks like a control board hooked up to a flash card IDE adator instead of a hard drive. I use a flash card for my Amiga 1200 instead of a hard drive.
>>3105275
They use sd cards in place of the old hdd?
