Well ICO and Morrowind aren't retro so I guess they don't count. The overworld as well as most of the levels of Banjo Tooie are pretty relaxing. Harvest moon 64 too.

Ruby and black generations are the least comfy, most other gens are about the same. Red and blue probably have the least urgency in their narratives, so they are the hihpgh point in chill.

I feel this why. I skipped HG and SS... I skipped all remakes except ORAS because I skipped XY (just wasn't interested, only got ORAS cause it was new, my favourite gen and I wanted to see new stuff). The other week I downloaded the DPP OST and the lure cut nostalgia almost feeled me to death. The forests, the caves, the mountains, the swamps, the snow, the volcanoes, the tropical post game island... The lack of tedious water routes.
I know themeticslly it was meant to be "mountainous" but it feels more varied than then other gens. Beats the "generic inland/costal" themes of RGBY and SGC, the too much water RSE and "lol this is the country" or BW and XY.
