I've been wanting to play through this game again but I don't want to spend time on this game and have the game data randomly erased. I was wondering if there was any way to prevent the saved data glitch or if there's any way to indicate which copies of the game have the glitch and which don't.

They all glitch when you beat career mode with a caw. Just don't do that and you're golden.
Later on carts have the error fixed
Look for ones with a -1 on them
The working one I have has the numbers

NUS NW4P-EUR-1
I worked in an indie game store when this game came out and the amount of annoyances that came from it and the boss saying "Dont take returns on it" nearly made me walk out, most people on the street dont want to send the game back to the manufacturer

Would the EUR go for USA carts too? There's no NUS-006 (EUR)
NUS NW4P-EUR-1 carts on ebay.
If you are grabbing off Ebay you could try asking if the game erases
