I stopped spamming savestates years ago when I realized it sucks out all the challenge along with the fun. Now I only use them to "save" between levels in games without SRAM or have a password system.

Most of the game can be done by holding diagonal up and left. The rest of the game you just need to move around the screen in a square.

The trick is to memorize plane formations then shoot down the enemy planes before they get a chance to lock on to you. As you probably have witnessed, it's much easier to dodge 1 or 2 missiles then 10. That being said, it's still very hard but if you can last more than 10 seconds before dying it actually becomes fun .

There was a comic in Heavy Metal back in the 70s about a guy with a belt that literally acted as an IRL save state. It ended with him accidentally pushing it right before a grenade went off. Motherfuckers were ahead of their time.

The bosses are actually very fair. If you defeat one it stays dead even if you continue. The only hard one really is the second since you have to learn the fireball pattern since it tracks you. If you're confident you can beat the first one (red nose) without magic then save your fire wheels for the second and he'll go down like a bag of dirt easily.

I doubt it's that hard if even Arino of GCCX could beat it. Granted, he only beat the first cycle and it took him 16 hours of non-stop play to do it, but the man is pretty bad at games.

He's not that bad. He just takes his time to learn the mechanics and I'm 99% sure that he fakes most of his ealrier deaths or he's doing them for the laughs. Depends on the game of course.
Ghost and goblins is hard but fun without being bullshit which is pretty hard to find

He also gets help from the ADs a lot to get him through the hard parts. I don't know if he did for GnG but for many hard games he gets to skip the hardest parts.

People would say Ghosts 'n Goblins, but the only TRULY difficult part, in my mind, is in Level 5, when you need to climb up a ladder on the left and there's THREE Red Arremers, a skullman, and an ogre. Your best bet is to climb up and trigger the skull man, kill him, then immediately scramble back down the ladder and do combat with the one (or two, you could be unlucky) Red Arremer enemies. Then leave the one on the far left alone and fuck that ogre up, you're at the very end of the level and the boss for Stage 5 and 6 are a snap. Jump away while throwing shit at him, then duck. It looks like you'll get hit, but you won't.

As for most beat 'em ups that are well known, three things. #1, don't get greedy, stick and move. #2, your best combo in just about any one of these games is to throw out the first two punches of your usual 1-2-3 combo, then grab, hit them two more times, then throw them into other enemies, if possible. This is CRUCIAL in Final Fight. #3, bunch enemies together, you do not wanna be clobbered on both sides.

Now, one game I do think is impossible? Tower of Druaga. There is no fucking way anyone could happen to discover all sixty chests' requirements by accident, let alone figure out what half of those even did. I mean yeah, the boots make you faster and the golden pickaxe makes it so you're not trapped by anything, but keeping up that consistency for sixty unique floors on one credit? Shit, man. I'd say less than 1,000 people total have actually beaten the entire game. By the way, if you don't have the three rods and the ruby staff, you're fucked. On floor 59 of 60, you will be warped down all the way back to floor 19.

I give up usually by stage 5. Love the game but understand the reasons why its loved and hated by those who have tried it. Has a great OST and very cool features for a 96 bullet hell. The rank is one son of bitch

Immediately after posting that I got the drafting mechanics down. I finished third on Suzuka Short, my best finish on any track. I have all the assists off with automatic transmission. Maybe switching to semi-auto will help.
