how could it be this good? we never knew...
It's a stretch, but I'm gonna count this one. Slashing your way through a dystopian future with an indestructible katana is pretty satisfying.

Ninja Gaiden and Karateka. karateka might be a hipster choice, but the animation and vibe are fantastic.

I was incredibly disappointed by this game. I looked forward to playing it for a long time because I saw it in Nintendo Power as a kid. When emulation had come along far enough I eventually downloaded a copy and was completely floored by what a clunky piece of shit it was. : (

SHINOBI series is the greatest
