Please post old games that play like Alone in the Dark. I remember one where you enter this village and go into a pub and monsters attack you (no not Alone in the Dark 3). I think the game starts with you riding on a horse. I also remember one where you travel through time and you are in WWII and later in the future. Another one where you are in some French museum (you have to disable some laser alarm system) and it's about crusaders. I don't remember any names though.

First one sounds like Ecstatica 2.
The one in the museum is
Time Gate: Knight's Chase
The one where you time travel is
Time Commando
Unfortunately there's this cancelled game
Urban Decay
Did you try the tech demo
Jack in the dark?
Little big adventure 1 or 2
This one's a long shot but it recent, demo only in Steam
The Room Beyond

Last one must be Time Gate: Knight's Chase, or another of this series. Pretty sure it had several titles.
I totally see which one's the 2Nd one but I can't remember the name for the life of me. It wasn't exactly survival horror but it used 3D models within 2D backgrounds like AITD. It's Bio something? Forge something? Cyber something? Fuck.

that was a tech demo? I assumed it was some bonus game
Not sure myself really, I always thought it was like a prototype for AITD2
Ah, you mean
BioForge

Most likely bullshots

I like this game we play where we see how many replies can we go without mentioning Resident Evil
Alien Odyssey

Soul of the Samurai / Ronin Blade
Quite underrated feudal-Japan-themed RE clone; the combat system is quite fun once you clear the somewhat frustrating learning curve and you get how to properly block, counter and whatnot
I've been always a bit intrigued by that City of Lost Children one, but I hear it's pretty shitty

I was about to post that as the name just got back to me ! >>3088718

Yes, this is a fun game.

But it's not so much a AITD clone, although the influence is clear, it's not exactly survival horror. It's more like Onimusha before its time.
In a similar style, I absolutely LOVE Vampire Hunter D which I feel is a very, very, very underrated game.

Kill yourself.

I wouldn't say the first Alone in the Dark is survival horror either, really. The focus is in the puzzles, and the enemies basically count as puzzles as well, since there's only a handful in the entire game (plus, you can save anywhere you want). Resident Evil made resource management as important as puzzle solving, probably more.
Since it's mostly about swordfights and special moves, Ronin Blade doesn't have much resource management either, but the action focus is there (can't really see the likeness with Onimusha though, except for the setting; the gameplay, pacing and general concept are completely different)

Yup that's Time Commando.Intresting note, he appears as a hidden enemy in Little Big Adventure 2
>>3088230
I've used to have it but never really got into it or I was too young or too stupid. I know everyone around me loved it so please tell me about Little Big Adventure. i know it has a cult following.

Yeah, so ? If anything the fact that "enemies are more like puzzles" make it even MORE survival horror.
What makes "survival gameplay" in "survival horror" is: it plays like an action game, I mean it IS an action, you control your character and its move like an action game. BUT unlike traditional action games where you're expected to be a badass and have fun shooting up everything, in a survival horror, you're supposed either to use other means (fleeing, "puzzles" like blocking the path of the enemey, etc) or if you do fight and/or shoot, you're supposed to be weak (either through your moves, the power of your strength, the lack of supplies, etc).
AITD has all of that + and a main horror theme throughout, so I don't see why it wouldn't be survival horror. Not every one needs to play just like RE.

DON'T PLAY IT ON PC. psx version is better.

Man, the lighting and shadows in this were amazing when it came out.
