Is SMB2J the Dark Souls of retro games?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5apu4ML9Wto
King's Field is Dark Souls of retro games
>this game is like dark souls cause its hard lel
i'd say zelda 2 is the most actually dark souls-ish nes game
>>3086421
wasn't king's field a main inspiration for the souls games?
>>3086423
Zelda 2 is too linear to be Dark Souls.
Ocarina of Time has a more similar playstyle, but it lacks difficulty.
>>3086419
On these kind of levels I like to say 'nigger nigger nigger' along to the beat
>>3086434
why would you even think to do that
>>3086419
It's not even that hard for a platformer. I beat it on the Gameboy Color when I was a kid.
>>3086445
it's pretty tough without saves
>>3086445
nothing is hard for the ever-vigilant /vr/autist
>>3086447
Nah. It's not that bad. GNG? Most Castlevanias? Ninja Gaidens? Shinobis? Now those are tough.
>>3086453
castlevania 1 gave me a lot less trouble than lost levels. 8-3 gave me an aneurysm
>>30864402bh I didn't, and I don't even actually do it. I saw that as a post on /v/ once ages ago and it made me laff so I meme it sometimes.
Nope, this is.
>>3086505
why were 90s gaming ads so awesome and weird
Nah, People like Dark Souls because it's hard but there's always room to try different approaches that all work equally. SMB2 is just a test for how good you were at the first game. Platforming puzzles like these only have 1 solution with a margin of error allowed.
>>3086427
It was literally made by the same company. I don't know if the people who actually worked on Dark Souls were around to work on Kings Field though.
>>3086419
>is this thread the /v/ or /vr/?
No. /vr/ is full of /v/ these days.
>>3086510
They knew their place, you had to be cool and hip to target the teenagers. Nowadays they try to target us mature 33 year old women.
>>3086560
As well it should be. /vr/ ain't that old, neither is /vg/. It's not surprising people from /v/ go to 2 or even all 3.
>>3086419
I feel like I could beat this game if it had Mario Maker physics. I could never get a handle on SMB1's physics, which is ironic because its the first video game I ever played.
>>3086579
>as it should be
Get the fuck out
>>3086609
/vr/'s population came from /v/. quit acting like they're different
>>3086419
>Dark Souls of retro games?
Newage has invaded this board
time to go,enjoy your shithole.
>>3086579
I go to all three lmao
>>3086623
It used to be people came to /vr/ when they outgrew /v/. Now we're being inundated by the dregs who can't handle /v/ or even /r9k/. It's actually pretty sad to see how this place has gone to shit so quickly.
No, ghosts n goblins is...
>>3086434
I used to say "stoogie noogie woogie". I have no idea why, before you ask.
>>3086623
>sisquo
>sinead o'connor
>dexter holland
Why has dark souls become seen as the most difficult game created in the entire history of mankind?
>>3086838
Because ever since the PS2 hardly any game came out where you die so often. That's why they claim it's difficult.
It's the generation who grew up with the PS2. For them, it's the hardest thing they faced.
Depending on how old you are, you have Battletoads, Contra, Ghouls'n Ghosts and others to compare as being "difficult".
But of course, people from those generations are outnumbered by those of the Dark Souls generation.
>>3086850
>ghouls n ghosts
Implying the sequel is harder.
>>3086838
It's bullshit but Demon's Souls was harder than Dark Souls.
>>3086912
Rubbish, the only hard part of Demon's Souls was the Tower of Latria and Old King Allant.
>>3086916
And the only hard part of Dark Souls is none of it.
>>3086930
Show us your achievements list, boy.
>>3086434
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqIsc8ooXug
no it's the bloodborne of retro games
>>3086623
>sinead_o_connor_joins_sega_game_cast.jpg
>>3086934
OK, can I ask why you need to see that?
>>3087054
There's a fucking board on 4chan??
>>3087054
Not OP, but I'm 39 and I play retro games AND dark souls.
Incredible isn't it, moron ?
>>3087239
If Dark Souls is as easy as you claim, then you'll have probably all the achievements for it by now.
I see you were at that gif thread on /v/ yesterday.
I am the guy that replied to OP's gif (the one you posted) asking if it was possible to pass through that obstacle without getting hit.
>>3086419
No, it's the SMB2J of retro games.
>>3087292
>I'm 39
I'm sorry.
