I have a Sega megadrive 2 that isn't working g great. I replaced all the cables for it but there is still a lot of noise and static (despite being RGB).

Any thoughts on what's wrong with it?

Looks like your sync cable isn't working anon

It does the same thing with an RCA composite cable as it does with the RGB. The games work and the picture appears but there is always a lot of noise over the images.

Are you just using a scart cable for rgb? Maybe the composite video signal is stuffed? It's used for both sync with rgb and composite video. Maybe caps or the frequency crystal?

Also try a better power adapter. I know I got similar interference using a 3rd party psu

I got nothing but generic advice, but anyway:
Check your power supply, that it isn't sending interference? (I had such a problem, but not as severe with a chinky cheap PS2 PSU)
Check your caps?

Try another power adapter.
I'm experiencing something similar.

Probably caps.

Opened my Sega up and checked all the caps. None swollen or burst.
Guessing it's the generic power supply i bought since my original cord got cut

Thanks for the tips.

Sega units are sensitive to 3rd party adapters. Buy a used oe one. Be sure to get the right one for your MD. Yellow tip (if same as na).

Just because none are swollen or burst doesn't mean one isn't bad/failing. I was having issues with my 32x giving a wavy image at the top. I recapped it even though they all appeared fine and it fixed it.

Not op but my MD model 2 boots up to the TMSS message then goes blank, no cartridge game will work. Mega CD even works through it. Cleaned the cartridge slot (thoroughly), reflowed solder, checked caps. Any ideas?
