Yes. The character designs are shockingly bad. The running animation is atrocious. The production values for every cutscene after the first one are in the toilet.

Unlike Holy Magic Century (Aka Quest 64 in its bastardised American form), Aidyn Chronicles is a genuinely bad game. I'm amazed it got past Nintendo certification due to its tendency to crash and the fact the permadeath party thing is blatantly the result of a bug.

Holy Magic Century was just a bit obtuse and repetitive. Aidyn is pure, insulting shit. A shame because the writing is half-decent.

I remember playing a game on N64 where I could not get my character to actually hit enemies no matter what I did

There is no proper way to revive "dead" party members. This is seriously gamebreaking shit for most players, and I can't believe Nintendo let it slide. This isn't freaking Rainbow 6.

I can't find a source, but I remember that there a sort of "revival gem" item that was cut from the game because it kept making the game crash or corrupted save data or something like that. So in order to fix the game breaking bug, they made the game broken.

There's nothing especially wrong with Quest 64, retarded American name changes for the characters aside. It's a servicable RPG with nice enough music and nice enough story.

Aidyn Chronicles also loves to delete your save game file for no apparent reason. Bear in mind this is a 70+ hour RPG.

The frustrating thing is that there is an ambitious RPG with some decent writing and combat and character customisation in there. It's just buried under so much shit.
