Check it out. I made some cases for my old Game Boy games using Nintendo DS cases.
Don't they look great? It does take a bit of time and money but I find them much better to look at than loose carts.
I can tell you guys how to do it too if you want. Anyone else make cases for their old games?
This is what the inside looks like.
You have to store the game upside down so that it fits.
Pretty snazzy. Though I imagine it would be a pain if you had a lot of Gameboy games. Tho honestly having a lot of the original boxes is quite impractical just because of how fragile they are. DS cases are made of quite sturdy stuff I must say. Even sturdier then 3DS cases

I'm sorry you wasted your time and destroyed a DS case, but here you go.
custom game cases dot com
pre-printed - 3.50
no print out - 2.50
usable for GB, GBC, and GBA.
Do some research next time.
>>3074943
Pwnd!
I wish there were custom cases for game gear fug
>>3074943
Why not make a case that isn't twice as big as the game? It's kinda pointless as far as space goes.
>>3074943
My method is less expensive... I think. I should check my printer ink level before saying that for sure LOL.
The empty DS cases cost me 83 cents per case from a local video game store. I don't know what the ink will end up costing me.
>>3074958
They're the same size as DS cases.
It makes sense to have consistency on your shelf. It's one of the strongest points for having cases in the first place
>why not have a case that isn't twice as big as they game
This will blow your mind, but there are gameboy cases that are clear and only slightly larger than the cart itself.
>>3074958
1. Because they look nice placed next to real ds cases.
2. GBC manuals (at least, the pokemon games) need a ds sized case.
>>3074960
.83 cents for materials isn't terrible, but you have to consider your time is valuable, and hacking together a case looks like shit.
>>3074943
Isn't it illegal for them to sell copyrighted box art?
Is that site going to get shut down by Nintendo's legal team?
>>3074974
Go ahead and alert Nintendo.
>>3074926
>Not using cool Cassette tape cases to store your gameboy games
Way to go.
>>3074986
These have clips for the manuals, mayne.
>>3074930
Huh... I have some I modified BEFORE the Shadowfox cases were a thing. I never thought of the electrical tape, though. Good idea.
Seems like a waste of space. I put mine in baseball card sheets, and keep those sheets in a bigass thick binder.
>>3074926
>not emulating gameboy games
This is so fucking stupid.
What if you keep your games in a box or drawer?
>>3075587
>Seems like a waste of space. I put mine in baseball card sheets, and keep those sheets in a bigass thick binder.
Well, the thing about these Nintendo DS cases is that they can go on a rack with DVDs and Blu rays. You can buy a big entertainment stand or shelving and have your games looking nice.
>>3075742
Why? It's fun to enjoy the art work and it has a spot for the manuals.
>>3075659
I've owned most of my Game Boy games since they were brand new and I was playing them with an original Game Boy LOL. Figured I'd spruce up my collection by putting my loose carts into something that looks nice.
>>3075925
Alright, fine, they look nice. It's still a waste of space. I don't need to be buying a new DVD rack because all my GB games (of which I have nearly 70) are contained in a nice compact binder.
>>3074986
Wheres the pics for cassete tapes?
>>3074954
me too
OP here.
Damn it, the cover project has been down lately. I've been wanting to make more cases.
>>3074954
>>3076323
If you have at least some basic photoshop skills you can print something like this. The size is that of the GG cart when assembled.
>>3074967
It only looks like shit from the inside. If I could get gameboy cases at an acceptable price, I'd do that, but 2.50 is a bit much.
>>3077680
It fits the game upside down and has a spot for the manual. How does that "look like shit" lol?
>>3078821
>How does that "look like shit" lol?
It's all cut up and the cart is upside down.
>>3078887
It stores the game. Isn't that enough?
>>3078892
If you're happy then sure. But this is so much better.
Is there a place that sells reproduction manuals.
>>3078931
I imagine it'd be easy to print those off yourself, mayne.
>spending any amount of time or money on cases that aren't original
It doesn't make you look cool guys, it makes you look autistic.
>>3074960
>My method is less expensive... I think. I should check my printer ink level
>using an ink jet
Why not go to a Staples and use their printing center and print out a nice professional looking label from on nicer paper for like 73 cents? a home inkjet just isn't capable of printing all the bright colors of videogame box art proplerly. nor the text without looking at least a little bit blurry
>>3079552
I don't think they let you print copyrighted materials.
At least Kinkos doesn't.
>>3079556
I'm sure a person could lie and say that it's a fan-made poster of video game art.
I doubt the employee will be versed in what is authentic Nintendo box art and what is a derivative work.
>>3079552
They look good enough on normal paper, mayne.
Besides, the quality of the cover is sometimes shit. I use the cover project, and sometimes they allow submissions of... low quality lol.
I'm just happy having a decent-looking case for these old games.
>>3079552
Seriously? You've never owned an inkjet or known someone who does or seen sample prints in a shop? Damn. Inkjets print bright colors and clear text just peachy.
>>3079942
Please don't do anything that might encourage that faggot with that shit stick to post another picture of it. If I see it again I just might an hero.
Quick question: is there a site that sells custom cases for EU/JP SNES cartridges? Similiar to >>3074943 ?
>>3074943
>$10 shipping
lmao no thanks
>>3081218
Buy in bulk dipshit.
>blaming shipping charges on the business and not the USPS
>>3081219
When did I blame it on the business? All I implied was that I'm not willing to pay that.
>>3081221
He's no doubt charging actual postage. So getting buttblasted that it's 10 bucks to ship is irrelevant because that's the actual cost.
>>3081240
>that's the actual cost.
Which I am not willing to pay. I'm not sure how to explain this more clearly to you.
>>3081258
So why are you complaining? You brought nothing to the discussion by shitposting about postage.
>>3081263
When did I complain? I had a good laugh about the cost of shipping and then you started sperging out at me.
>>3081271
>I've only bought stuff on eBay with free shipping and have no idea what the actual cost of shipping anything is.
He ships literally everything in a box. So it's not going to be some faggot on ebay with a shitty reused bubble mailer and 3 stamps on it.
OP here.
I made some of my own case art that weren't on the cover project.
It's pretty fun.
OP here again.
My autism kicked in and wouldn't let me leave some carts uncased, so I went ahead and made my own covers for the ones that weren't on the Cover Project. They look pretty good, since I used Paint and have training in photo editing.
Here is a picture of the cases that I made myself.
>>3083862
They look great on their sides. You can quickly organize your games alphabetically, and they look beautiful since they have the cool-looking font from the box art.
Picture related.
>>3083862
>My autism kicked in
Well maybe this will trigger you to reconsider Staples
>>3084223
Meh, it doesn't need to be perfect. I've already spent way too much time and money on these to redo some so that the image is clearer lol.
I'm just happy with something that resembles the original box.
>>3074926
ayy saw this shit years ago m8 you didn't invent it faggot
>>3084796
No you didn't. No one has ever made such shit cases. Anything you saw was better. Maybe you just didn't notice.
>>3074943
>shilling
You can get generic DS cases cheaper on eBay.
>>3083862
They're fine, but the GB bar on the front is way too wide.
>>3083868
Ouch, those spines. You've got to use better logos, or clean them better, and center all the logos. I guess for Paint it's not bad, but considering you can get much better photo editing software for free (legally, too), there really is no excuse.
>>3084919
>Cover Project created in 2006
ok m80
>>3078921
>the original manual
>>3085315
It's so good. I dare someone to find a better manual for any game.
>>3085302
>>3085302
The logos are from scans of the original boxes lol, that's why they look bad.
Have you seen the original boxes for these 20+ year old Game Boy games? Most of them are scratched up or torn.
I'm happy with the quality of these cases. I'm not going for perfection here.
>>3084796
I didn't claim to invent it.
>>3085341
That was obvious from the start, wasn't it?
"Don't make your own cases, buy these expensive ones instead!" lol
>>3074943
who build your website?
it's shit lmao
>>3085331
>The logos are from scans of the original boxes lol, that's why they look bad.
>Have you seen the original boxes for these 20+ year old Game Boy games? Most of them are scratched up or torn.
And printed from your printer, they look awful. I'd replace them.
>>3085361
That would take even more time and money.
Screw that. Damn, you guys are just as autistic/anal-retentive as me lol. I love this board.
