I think Shinobi World was the last Alex Kidd on the SMS, and it was also really good. The second game may have been the Lost Stars? Can't remember. The first game and Shinobi World are pretty good but the other games in the series (Lost Stars, High-Tech World and Enchanted Castle) can be skipped.
