Question: How hard would it be to replace the screen on the GBA with a backlit OLED screen if I could ever find one with the same pin-out and dot-pitch?

If such a screen existed, it'd be pretty easy, once you've taken the gameboy apart, you'd just need to desolder the one connector.
As far as I know, such a screen does not exist.

If you want to see your game boy on an OLED, that's fine, but the image will be about 0.5cm x 0.5cm.
Resolution is key.

Not retro.

It's extremely possible to swap a GBA SP screen into an old GBA. It requires a little soldering and a slight modification to the system casing, but a lot of people do it. There are even kits on ebay with the custom ribbon cable.
I've found a GBA SP in my house, gifted to me by a friend because broken screen.
To my surprise, GBA SP are expensive even when broken. Guess I'll stick to game boy player.
Just get a GB Boy Colour for all your GB/GBC needs, faggot.
just buy a backlit one off of /r/gameboymarketplace

Aren't they not produced anymore?
Why not just search for a model 101 GBA SP? It's already backlit.

Are they? Oh, well. Got my transparent blue a couple of years ago for $30. One of the best handhelds I own, even if the d-pad is a bit stiff.
