just finished policenauts and snatcher, it was so great. what should i play next? are there any decent detective\cyberpunk-ish visual novels out there?

But really, the closest thing to Snatcher is probably Dead of The Brain, but we'll never see an English translation of it.
Eve Burst Error is a great mystery story. I think it even got an official English release, but the translation might be garbage. Worth looking into.

I never saw anyone complaining about the translation, it's just that the translated Win95 version isn't using the beautiful PC-98 graphics, but instead some remastered bullshit.

The translation's as good as it could've been considering that they hired four translators, hired zero editors, had no style guide and seemingly didn't allow communication between the translators.
I wouldn't worry though since they're re-releasing it for Vita and PC, so someone's bound to pick it up.

Illusion City is good but it's an RPG not a VN. OP might as well play Shadowrun and Phantasy Star first since they have official translations, though yeah Illusion City is edgier/more "adult"
I gotta agree with the other posters OP should just hit up the quality English translated VNs and nevermind whether they're "porn" or not. Doesn't automatically make them bad. Yu-No is probably the single best available English VN but it is LONG. There are good short ones too but they're usually more explicit, dunno if you find that a good or bad thing.

Because what are the chances someone will bother to translate a random game just because few people on the internet want it?
Sometimes there are people who start learning Japanese wanting to one day translate something for people. But you know, once they get good enough to read works in Japanese, they'll prefer to do that instead and any will to translate will leave them. I can tell you,except I didn't want to translate anything to begin with, knowing Japanese only made me more adverse to the idea.
