How come there was never a better rail shooter made than this one?
Sin and Punishment is my favorite one overall, but Space Harrier is up there, pretty solid, timeless classic.
Also I wish this got released
Let's not forget arcade Galaxy Force II. Burning Force is another rad one.

Because none of them have a song as great as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_Tam9lv1KQ

>why was perfection never improved upon
think about what you're asking here
>>3044008
because you can't fix what isn't, and never will be broken
>>3044045
There is a playable version around,i don't know if its complete though.
>>3044475
I played it but I think it crashed around stage 3.
Panorama Cotton.
Has anyone here played Space Harrier 3D? I didn't even know it existed until looking at the upcoming 3DS genesis ports. It's different from both Space Harrier and Space Harrier 2 apparently?
>>3047994
Just get an emulator that supports anaglyph 3D and put on some red/blue glasses and go to town.
>>3048004
Ohh I'm fine waiting for the 3DS port to see what it's like, no way am I not getting another version of Space Harrier. I'm just curious what it's like and if anyone else here has played it.
>>3046473
>Galaxy Force 2
They should be getting royalties for every copy of Star Fox sold
>>3048032
Having played the fuck out of Space Harrier 1 and 2, I always thought Star Fox was slow and boring. Kids at school went apeshit for it and I never got it at all.
>>3048054
Maybe it was the age I played it at, I've always liked SH2 as well. Space Harrier was one of my favorite games and then 2 came out and I didn't even think about it being better or worse, it was just more.
>>3044008
never tried it, the tunnel vision gets me, and the gameplay looks wonky as fuck
>>3048061
Nah, I'm with you on that. I absolutely love 2, especially the art direction and color scheme.
The horrible things I would do for a 60fps version...
>>3044008
How does he fly? Does he have superpowers, or is the gun also some kind of jet booster? Either way, 10/10 game.
>>3048048
Starfox was babbie's first forward scroller for a lot of people. For better or for worse.
>>3049442
Do Star Fox games have second loops? The games can definitely use that for more replay value per session.
I played Space Harrier (arcade version) on my PS3 with the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Fun game.
Soooo rail shooters general maybe? I've been really liking cosmic epsilon
>>3049448
Star Fox 64 has an "expert mode" which is basically a second loop that's unlocked when you get a medal on every level,
Both games have completely different routes with different difficulties, but not really a second loop in any real sense.
>>3048012
There already is a 3D Space Harrier port on download only on the eShop. I own it, and it's exactly what you expect, a solid arcade level experience. Neat nods to the machine through different skin options, and plenty of options including controlling Harrier with the stylus, if you'd ever want to do that.
>>3049465
I got interested the second I saw it, but I hear it gets unfairly difficult later; how far in are you and is it deathly impossible yet?
>>3049505
He means the Master System game
Which is also coming to 3DS
>>3049605
This. I already have the 3DS version, which is great. But in the next batch of games they're porting, Space Harrier 3D is one of them which is different.
>>3049509
It definitely ramps up the difficulty. Honestly most of that comes from just how large the hitbox is
>>3044008
Playing Space Harrier on an emulator at X2 speed is a crazy experience.
>>3044045
So are Space Harrier and Phantasy Zone in the same universe?
The...view...of Burning Force is nice.
If anyone knows this I think rail shooter fans would. What are some games that are like the vehicle levels of the Super Star Wars games? It's sort of like a rail shooter, but you're not necessarily always moving and can turn and move in any direction.

Certain levels in Soulstar.

Hiromi has great assets.
>>3047994
I actually own a physical cart of this, but I only have a model 2 master system so I never got to try the 3-D aspect.
>>3050512
Bulk Slash on the saturn may fit that criteria, criminally underrated game in my opinion.
>>3050447
Yeah they are, to the point that they outright say it in the remake of fantasy zone II.
>>3049124
The gun is what lets him fly.
Well apparently I will always be bad at Space Harrier no matter how much I practice or how hard I try and in fact I seem to be getting worse over time.
Which is better/easier, Thunder Blade or Afterburner?
>>3052394
This is a fucking lie
