I agree, I generally disliked D2 and thought it was overrated fluff. D1 was a solid simple game, you jump in, dungeon crawl, stay awhile and listen, and it was all good (also didn't require a whole gig of your hard drive to do it).

MGS2is the best in the series though.
Star Ocean 2 was incredible. 1 was decent, 3 had some cool features but was overall a disappointment, and 4 was incredibly shit.

Absolutely. Aesthetically too, the centralized dungeon concept and the gruesome atmosphere really helped to make you feel like you slowly approaching a horrible secret.

M&M7 has Arcomage, is nicer-looking, lets you be a lich, ties up more to HoMM3 lore, gives closure on more things and so on. It has some other problems like inferior dungeon design and some rushing but I'd not say M&M6 is a standout superior to everything.
WoX and MM3 just look nicer due to the sprite graphics, and aren't too shabby in other departments.
