Which game do you prefer? Any hopes for SS3?
>>
how are there always system shock threads?

is the game that interesting?
>>
>>2960667
Depends, do you like labyrinthine early 2.5D sci-fi FPS adventure games with heavy narration?
>>
>>2960672
mmm... sounds okay. it just seems like another game that didn't get much press like how we have snatcher threads all the time so it makes me curious.
>>
nah
>>
i liked ss2 because the controls were much better

cyberspace in ss1 just gets frustrating
>>
>>2961120
Arn't there control mods for the first game?
>>
I think Shodan was a much better character in SS1 than in 2. I also liked how SS1 controlled and played. SS2 just felt more clunky, though it was still a great game.

Atmosphere in SS2 was probably better than 1 in terms of being spooky. I think one of my other issues is the whole skill system, which kind of felt a little tacked on at times.
>>
>>2961180

SS2 had some things that 1 didn't, like the fact it played on the same engine as thief and the AI was bound not to cheat.

The result being the player could sneak up on enemies or avoid them. Then there is the fact that TTLG had THE BEST COLLISION in any game ever. This is in part why you enjoy the fluid movement and control of SS1. SS2 although seemingly clunky, had mantling from thief and many other great additions.

Realizing the wrench actually connects with enemies and level geometry amazed me when I first played it.

Those fucking mazes full of suicide bomb drones at the top.

Fucking HATE.
>>
>>2961120
I have to agree.
Hell if they remade 1 with the same engine as two ir updated it with ANY new engine I woudl find it more enjoyable.
I like 2 but I don't like the controls/ movement of 1. (sorry. I like the story, audioclips etc.. but gah.)

Kill me...
>>
Anyone tried SS1 with mouselook? I imagine it makes it too easy.
>>
>>2972152
Doesn't outright break the game, but it does make the game a LOT easier. Luckily it's not a always on thing and you can turn it off whenever you want.

SYSTEM SHOCK?

MORE LIKE SYSTEM COCK AMIRITE?

FUCK THIS THREAD, SAGING

Cyberspace is bad and not just because of controls.

They should replace it with a Descent ripoff gameplay in the remake

>>
>>2961170
Yes and It makes it easily one of my favorite FPS/dungeon crawler games of all time.
>>
>>2979509
If it's good then it's another System Shock game. If it's bad then there are already two good games in the series to play. This is my opinion on every remake, you only get burned if you're a stupid idiot and not wait at least a week after the game comes out to see if it's any good.

SS1 should be played without mouselook then? Was thinking of buying it in the steam lunar sale
>>
>>2981408

I don't think it matters. You don't play SS1 for the combat or combat difficulty. It's the level design and the way you have to figure out on your own what to do just from reading logs that counts.
>>
>>2979509

all it needs is a visual update and actual mouse support instead of needing the mod
>>
>>2981678
Tapping E in the enhanced edition released by Nightdive allows perfect mouse support. As far as the visuals go... ehhhh.
>>
>>2981707
I don't personally care about the remake because I already like the original, but assuming they don't screw it up horribly somehow then people who wouldn't have otherwise played the original will, which means there will be more SS fans, which means that there will be more people who want games like SS, which is good.
