What are some retro games that fit this trope?

Pic related. The NES port of Ultima 3 is rather awkward JRPG makeover of the series with its colorful palette blobs, upbeat soundtrack, utterly broken classes and a number of useless and exploitable content; but the game somehow manages to be charming nonetheless.

The NES version of Ultima: Exodus will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first RPG I ever played (my uncle bought it when I was really young), and the entire reason I wanted to learn to read so early on.

Because of Ultima, I also played and (mostly) understood Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy before I started kindergarten.

Rapid Angel. Extremely fun anime beat'em up platformer, with a broken little juggle system. I still want to see someone do a speedrun of this.

Someday I'm actually going to play Secret of the Stars. The ROM just sits in my folder because I can't bring myself to delete it, even though it physically hurts me to play it.

The Hunt for Red October gb almost so bad it's good for me.
Almost.

I know it's literally a trolling game, but i always wished to play and own this.

I know this game is bullshit to beat but do you think it was mostly a game to dick around in instead of beating?
>>
>>2942872
That's a concept pretty ahead of its time for a NES game.

Ugly as fuck, arguably the worst jump in videogame history (seriously download it just to see how awful it is), and so difficult the toughest of the toughest on /vr/ would quit even with a walkthrough. I always love playing it with a emulator to use rewind to make it actually playable to a capacityu as I feel every time I play I go to different zones, maybe like a super shitty and less interesting yume nikki in a way, if that makes sense.
