Pretty good till the plot kicks in, then it ignores its unique setting, characters and plot to become a typical JRPG.

This, honestly. I went into this game and found a sweet JRPG/"God Sim" with great little vignettes and a large character roster that you trained to fight a war. Then it goes totally apeshit with JRPG and drops the "Sim" aspect almost entirely.
I like it but to me it's a lot of wasted potential.
