Okay /vr/ I need some help on a JVC monitor I'm thinking about purchasing. I was looking at this eBay listing:

http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/141876099921

And I noticed that this monitor only has one input for video labeled Input A (with two plugs). does this mean that this monitor is composite only, or what?

This should go in the CRT thread.

That being said, it sounds like composite and S-video

sorry, yes it only will have composite in and out

with composite only forget it! It's not worth the money if you can't go RGB.

maybe this untested unit? You could ask the seller if he can at least connect the TV to power and see if the memnu can be opened. Otherwei

Otherwise, if you want to save money - i'd advise to get something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMMORDORE-MONITOR-1084S-230V-50-Hz-VINTAGE-1988-/191779587330?hash=item2ca6f44502:g:OOQAAOSwwPhWkqXU
You need a special cable here for the RGB Port (DIN) but i have one of theses and the colors are amazing!

of f***! The commodore monitor i posted is a 230V unit from Australia - so unless you already have a 230 to 120V transformer i'd seek for a different solution. I'm also not quite sure if this 50 Hz is good for your NTSC consoles..

This thing should be fine though:

Again, you need a special cable (and maybe even someone that builds one for you) to connect RGB. But everything else should be fine..
But regarding the price you might also get a tested PVM like these

Thank me later. Regards, you /vr/ research service.

OP if you're going to buy something like that, just buy a nice cheap used JVC consumer TV locally.

Really, in all seriousness I would suggest you just invest in an RGB to Component transcoder which will be your little buddy and allow you to use $0-$10 locally available consumer CRTs to achieve 95% equivalence of our pro studio monitors. 98% if you really learn your secret service menus
