Question: Is there a wiki or other resource anywhere that collects information on constant parameters that games use - like the speed, acceleration, jump strength and gravity of Mario in a given game.

Seems like it would be extremely useful for those of us who want to make fangames, but not hack ROMs for the original hardware.

Source for game?

me

Never finished it, stopped seeing the point in releasing yet another run'n'jump to the world.

This information sort of exists for on wikis dedicated to speedrunning and TASes. I remember reading a lot about Mario World running and jumping physics in particular, but even as exhaustive as it was it may not have everything you need to 100% duplicate it.

Mario World is going to be a special exception though, because it is very popular in those communities and with romhacking in general. You should be able to find similar amounts of research for Super Metroid and maybe a few others.

What was this made in?
Looks like a flash game, where do I learn this stuff?

Nobody uses Flash anymore. It's dead.

I used Game Maker Studio, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'm moving over to Java + LibGDX now. I've heard LÖVE is also good and simple to use.

Sonic Retro has some information like that reverse engineered from the Genesis games on their wiki

The Mushroom Kingdom also has one for SMB1 but I'm not sure how authoritative it is

doomwiki.org probably has similar information for Doom, though even if they don't, the source code is also available to find it from

In general, the TAS guys are probably the best source for such info for most games
